VoodooPC website goes up in smoke... and mystery
It looks like HP is milking its future plans for its Voodoo division for all their worth, with it now following up its tantalizing hints from a few days ago with a not-so-subtle revision of the VoodooPC website. Exactly what that means, however, we can't be sure, but it certainly seems to suggest that the Voodoo brand might not be featured so prominently in HP's "beautiful" future --especially since the only live links left on the site are for support and community.

WTF? Why do companies like HP and Dell have to ruin stuff like Voodoo and Alienware?
Alienware was always overpriced crap. No experience with Voodoo, but Dell didn't ruin Alienware. Alienware did.
Sorry to post-jack, but I found this in the forum:
As you've probably noticed, VoodooPC.com is on fire. Great news: The fire department is on the scene, battling the blaze like true Canadian heroes. Unfortunately, they're not letting anyone back into our community to register or post until they can guarantee it's safe (and totally awesome). Expect exciting developments on June 10th.

Voodoo is going no where, just wait until the 10th of June and you will see what is suppose to happen. One thing is a new community forum, should be interesting.
Hahahaah, that was so extreme that it looked funny for me! hahahaha.
Pretty neat marketing.
I wonder if they're going to just make Voodoo the 'DNA' for HP computers and laptops, a la the Blackbird. That wouldn't be so bad, as HP's look better anyway, IMO.
the voodoo, the voodoo in on the fire...we dont need no water let the mother******* burn......
OMG!
How can you say that they are ruined? We have no idea what is going on! Don't read in to death of Voodoo just because they casually suggest it as a possibility. Wait until June10! Of course if I am wrong, I'll print this this comment and then eat my words.
Exploding batteries FTW!
hp destroyed voodoo, good job hp
Reborn like a phoenix out of the ashes... Maybe HP like the bird theme "Voodoo Phoenix" sounds ok
that's what I was thinking too! maybe they'll burn it up first and do a silly advertisement about from the ashes comes a new gaming pc... meh either way I still haven't seen anyone with a voodoo pc... or told me that they have one.
Dude, great minds think alike. That's too much work just to advertise "Voodoo PC is being shut down."
HP is going to revive VOODOOPC, and its going to destroy Alienware. June 10 Voodoo will have a new website with Crazy power. DDR3 Memory up to 8gig on their new laoptops. THANKS to CENTRINO 2 V PRO. Alienware will never have fast systems, they always lie.
That has got to be the best business strategy iv ever heard of! trying to make one of the companies you own put on of the other companies you own out of business! Good idea Dell.
P.S. i now revoke you right to procreate.
oops i just realized my mistake disregarded my last. Hp owns Voodoo not dell. my bad. either way they are overpriced crap.
Voodoo is now on the back burner?
So I work in web design, and I show this to my manager and say "this is probably the coolest Coming Soon page I've seen in a long time"...She comes back and says "but it doesn't say "Coming Soon" anywhere on it, I think it's dumb...
I guess it's assumed by people who don't spend all day shopping at "the gap.com" that this
Don't you see? June 10th is the day after the Apple Announcement thingy. Clearly Voodoo is going to be launching a line of computers with Apple OS.
LMAO...you're right!
ROTFLMFAO...HMICB
@ Ian
thats completely rediculous
Apple will never release a OS intentionally not for a specificly apple computer
and unless Apple has secret plans with activision or EA or something, there is no point of buying a gaming pc with a mac os on it
It probably just couldnt keep up with that other dying(or not dying, were not really sure) gaming pc line called Alienware/XPS
and yeah, XPS and Alienware should be combiined into one brand
i hate you dell and HP
especially because the VooDoo pcs were coller than the Alienwares or XPS's
For all of you projecting Voodoo's untimely death, I would say wait. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I still don't see the point in purchasing VOODOOPC if the street cred HP wanted was going to be transitioned over, rather then kept as a brand. I thought that the combination of an elite manufacturer and a mass producer would offer a cool combination for bringing in even more extreme computers to the masses.
Hopefully the fire on the site represents refocus from HP and VOODOOPC in ushering in a new order of quiet, cool, elite GAMING SYSTEMS.
I live in Calgary! can't afford VOODOOPC though :(
hopefully the site doesn't turn into HooPoo :)
Then it's time to move to The Fort and go work on the rigs my man, the rest of my province is already there, why ya think they call it little Newfoundland. Go join the ranks me son, git yer money B'Y! Hell Mccy D's pays atleast $21/Hr there......
damn that's still a $ more then I make
don't think my wife would like me going to 'The Fort' to work at McDicks though
I have to admit, that is one heck of a piece of flash animation though! At least the whole thing is well executed. :)
Dell and Alienware, HP and Voodoo....what about Falcon-Northwest?
The last one to buy one up is gateway... I sure hope they stay away from Falcon Northwest or Velocity Micro.
Gateway is owned by Acer.
The biggest computer related company is microsoft, followed by IBM. Who knows what those crazy mofos will do?
First cake cutting, now this? Haha, interesting stuff going on...
Take a look at this vid too:

LOL It's incredible how engadget has entirely missed the point here. No, this isn't the death of Voodoo, but rather just hype for the upcoming laptops they'll be releasing next week, as has already been hinted at by Voodoo execs.
Please try again
laptops and desktops look at the youtube video.

Not to say I told you so... yet... but take a look at my post from the last article about HP/Voo Doo. Everyone got wrapped up in the use of a MBA to cut a cake and were screaming about an ultra-thin ultra-portable notebook. Not going to be the case.
My guess is an all new line of Voo Doo Notebooks and Desktops with plenty of focus on the new 9XXX and 9XXXM series of gpus from Nvidia. In addition, I'd bet that HP is going to be releasing their own line of gaming notebooks under the Blackbird series.
It all boils down to a good marketing scheme to promote the next generation of Hardware from Voo Doo and a new line of products out of HP proper.
Man you guys just really don't get the ole advertising thing do ya? The fire is a good metaphor for "Voodoo is so HOT it's on Fire!"
DUH!
check back in six days

yea...they're trying to play off the voodoo tact and are going to do the back from the dead thing on June 10th...kind of like the phoenix from harry potter :p
Does it really matter to us what new line of products they have? Their products are EXTREMELY overpriced. Their base prices for any of their deskstop systems all start at $5,000. Upgrading the system to a decent system will cost you close to 10k! I much rather buy a car or just build a computer myself...
Im not hating Voodoo, hell I even bought one a few years back when their prices were still within reason. But now their prices are way too high. If you guys ever played with the configurator you can buy a luxury car if you go all out.
I think HP will change that somewhat, the Blackbirds were still expensive, but not nearly as overpriced as the VoodooPCs were.
who cares.... I just bought a Falcon Northwest Mach V loaded. I hate big companies and talking to tech support that I can't understand. If you want high end, go with small boutique, you pay ALOT (of course) but the service and support can't be matched, especially if you're not adept at agressive overclocking yourself. FNW is the only one left from the "old guard" of high end gaming that has stuck to their principles, values, and size.
