Acer Aspire One handled on video by real-live British people
The folks at Tech Digest got a look at the new Acer Aspire One, and they seem to like what they see. High points abound, but of particular note is the solid "it's almost like a real laptop" build quality, the Atom processor that runs cool enough to require zero fan usage in the time they've been testing, and the strong battery life. The rest of the quite-lovable specs we're sure you all know by heart -- either that or you're so sick of looking at netbooks by now that you're contemplating a monastic existence just to be rid of the things. Video is after the break.

they are probably being GPS tracked as they use it to see if they are homebodies.
In Britain, all webcams are actually licenced closed-circuit TVs. Parliament is voting next Wednesday on whether to extend the period of detention without charge for possessing an unlicenced webcam from 28 days to 42 days.
that vote is gonna fail, Gordon wants to look tough on security but its just gonna end in tears.
But seriously though UK politics has not gone to shit, we (especially you) are just more pessimistic than ever.
Lance, that was too perfect =D
in Soviet Russia, parliament possess *you*
sold!
Speak English to me Tony...
I thought this was the country that spawned the f*ckin language and so far no one seems to speak it !.
Well Shucks! Ah Didn't Know Eenglish came from them thar Ingulund!
Funnily enough something exists that I like to call a Dialect. You see, amazingly enough not everyone in England speaks like the Queen, although they all seem to do in Lost excluding Charlie...
Get back to Coloring your Aluminum (It's accepted but Aluminium is prefered) Armor
@flashpoint
Dont come to south yorkshire you probably wouldnt understand a thing we say.
And if your american then you have'nt got a leg to stand on when criticizing.
@Robotchan
It's a Snatch reference, not xenophobia finding it's way into a dialect.
eee killer
Ahh a film I haven't seen :/ The comment seems to be correct for 90% of comments though
Girls named cat, with british accents, who say things like "...take photos of me licking it"...make me HOT!
Wow, can't believe so many of you missed the Snatch ref, much less the guy from the bloody country.
@Flashpoint
LOL! Way to pull the "Snatch" quote while the brits don't get it.
I'm thinking the same thing. Sold indeed :)
Painful to listen to that 'review'.
£199?? Wow...I might pick one of these up...
Zero fan noise is always nice. : D
The Eee PC's been like that for a long time, mate.
What, are us british a rare and dieing race now?
Hey guys, there's a real live brit in this very thread!!!11!!
"What about the RLBs?"
"Real Live Brits? I don't think they exist."
OH God! Quick, Man the harpoons!!
Oh, of course.
Anyways, I really want to buy one of these mini-laptops. I really hope this comes out in the US sooner, rather than later.
@ Caharry.
You'ra such a warm and loving person aren't you?!
Hey Dr. Z., I imagined your comment in the Zoidberg voice and it was awesome!
Oh wow! Real live brits!
i would like to see it run some real apps ya know. lets burn that baby to ground!
INNNNNGAAALUUUUUNDDDDDDDDD
I like the design, but I think the extra £100 buying :
XP (isntead of linux)
80gb Hdd (instead of 8gb thingy)
1gb ram (instead of 512mb)
7 hour battery (instead of 3hr)
(am I right?)
is definitely worth it
+ blue > white
The XP version doesn't come with the 6 cell battery by default. They each come with a 3 cell with an option to upgrade to a 6 cell. Not heard any pricing on the upgrade though.
I was considering a monastic escape from netbook overload, but all the Buddhist monasteries I called had Eee's already. I guess I'll just have to go Benedictine.
I am british and proud!
I just I had more land.
Are you not allowed to "wish" in England?
no, its banned.
FYI, its BRITAIN not England ;)
theres other countries in the UK other than england you know

Fine, I'll stop calling it England when you stop calling the USA, America. Deal?
yeah but it's so much catchier to say "hate America" than "hate USA".
Thought it was fake at first, but no, they're real Brits.
That guy's accent sounds fake lol
he suggets that 'they should put the mouse buttons on the side of the trackpad, no one does that" yet they already mentioned they'd seen the hp mini note. these people are dim
Actually this Acer has it as well.
Yeah, it was nice to actually see the notebook, but the people reviewing it are total stoners.

Well, she's certainly not British. I would guess Australian, or maybe NZ.
As for the computer, at two hundred quid, it's a bargain! I can't wait to see what DELL's response will be, but it looks like Asus has been left behind.
