Acer Aspire One handled on video by real-live British people
The folks at Tech Digest got a look at the new Acer Aspire One, and they seem to like what they see. High points abound, but of particular note is the solid "it's almost like a real laptop" build quality, the Atom processor that runs cool enough to require zero fan usage in the time they've been testing, and the strong battery life. The rest of the quite-lovable specs we're sure you all know by heart -- either that or you're so sick of looking at netbooks by now that you're contemplating a monastic existence just to be rid of the things. Video is after the break.

Definitely. No-one in England pronounces 'data' with a hard 'a' like she does.
i am neither one, but i did notice.
There's Only One Way To Find Out!!!!
FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHT!
I'm gonna be honest, i am LOVING THE ATTENTION....now im gonna go outside (asif)
err, the MSI Wind wipes the floor with all the competition and is miles ahead of this Acer unit. Agreed, that 'review' was painfully awful!
and it's dAYta not dARta....and she's supposed to be British, what's the world coming to, next she'll be licking laptops....
not really a bad thing....
She aint british
Any links to the photos of her licking it?
Hey man, you comin' down here soon? I see your name on of the doors across the hall.
That's a reply to IT-Accountant...
yeah, I'll be stopping by for an overnight next (not this coming) weekend.
They have a room set up for me already? man, I feel important.
And yes, this is totally off-topic.
either Australian or Zimbabwe / south africa
Its good to have land!
viva the empire
Dont mention the empire. The americans get jealous or angry.
EMPIRE, hahahaha....God save the Queen!
AND IIIII THOUGHT IT WAS THE UUUU K!
ENGADGET! HIRE THESE BRITS! AHHHHH!
Sweet zombie jesus, I want to see these people do a hands on with every single gadget. They need a gadget show on G4. And a cooking show. And some kind of home repair show. Maybe even something on Discovery.
If you don't want to watch the whole video, watch 6:04
Kat - It's also got fun! So the fun-
Dan - The fun's quite fun actually.
Kat - Fun folder, yeah-
Dan - Didn't know about that (mumbling)
Kat - Yeah, it's very fun.
Dan - Yeah it was.
FUN!!!!!!
Haven't you heard of professional journalism?! This is cutting edge stuff. Man. Cool, boogie, laptop licking fun. FUN! We Brits are so lame sometimes....I love it!
shouldn't "Acer Aspire One handled on video by real-liVe British people" be "Acer Aspire One handled on video by real-liFe British people"? Just saying... odd that all these people mocking their accents didn't notice this simple error...
Not to sure why they complain about the 0.3 megapixel webcam.. Are there any programs handling video above 640x480? 0.3 MP seems fine for a webcam to me.
i won't be happy until they cram an EOS 40D chip in there, 10MP should do for 2008, but then i'll want 23MP in 2009...ok?
Did they say the got their hands on Dell's mini-Inspiron?
im from scotland, which is technically britain.
So thats 2. :D
Ive got an original EeePC and its good but too slow for my needs. Im getting a 13.3" full laptop now. No playing about.
We are even rarer than the English :)
Real-live Brittish people??? I call a bluff!
Engadget: Netbook?
it's funny how the people who hate seeing netbook stories always post how they hate netbook stories instead of just skipping over the stories if it is not interesting like the rest of us.
I love netbooks: perfect complement to an moderately expensive desktop (unportable {unless your into lan-partys} meets ultra-portable), I'm still wondering which one is going to win me over, right now the blue 'one' looks good.
As for netbooks, your either overpaying for a underpowered laptop, or your underpaying for ultraportable take anywhere gizmo thingamajig that's: part digital picture frame, part dvd player... without the DVDs?, part computer, and all geek {well maybe after a little duct tape / Velcro}.
you're {why don't I ever read what I type}
Acer Aspire One, MSI Wind, etc, etc.....
Like the old Volkswagen ad said, "Why have a copy when you can have an original?"
- owner since November 2007 of an ASUS EeePC 701...

1 word:

(i own a eee 700)
Shes Australian !!!!!, shes just obviously been living in London a few years, i should know my accent sounds the same as hers, been here about 3 years or so.
Welcome to the uk. (three years too late)
are you here because were all moving to australia. btw australia is probably the only other country id want to live in. Beautiful country.
beautiful plumage
msn messenger? ms paint? I thought they were reviewing the linux version, or are they just THAT thick?
Has NO ONE noticed that the woman, Kat I think, is Australian. Her accent is not in anyway mistakable for a British accent.
Other comment reading fail.
Definitely Australian, though that accent is starting to become bastardised by her time here in England...
All you have to do is a quick search on tinternet and all will be revealed as to Kat's place or origin.

I actually thought she was a kiwi being one myself living in London for over 10 years, nice to prove myself wrong once in a while.
Hi, this is Kat from the video review - yep, those who guessed I am originally from Australia are correct, however I've been living in London for four years now and it's obvious I've picked up ye olde English accent.
Thanks for watching the review!
Did you ever post those photos? :)
I think the Acer One gets HOT. That gets Cat hot, a good lickin for the One straight away. Might swim across the pond for that.
