I just dont get it sometimes...I use Vista, have been since beta 2. We had our ups and downs but since the RC I have not had a problem. I use it at work, school, and home. Different machines different hardware, still works like a charm. Mostly FUD imo. I have a 360, a launch one. I travel with it frequently, bang it around put it in tight areas w/ no ventilation and it still works great. And surprise...I have a zune. Love it. Yes, I did have several ipods but imho I really like the zune. The software works great with sharing with my xbox. Mix everything together and it works really really well for me and my digital lifestyle. For some apple works well, whatever. Different strokes for different folks.
Agreed. Never had problems with my 360 or Vista. Own a Zune too.
IMHO, most problems with Vista are hardware based. Any time a new OS is released, you should upgrade your hardware in some way... Expecting your 5+ year old computer running XP *barely* to run Vista like a dream is just stupid... Don't blame the OS for not being ideal for outdated hardware.
I am an Apple Fanboy. I love my iPhone. I obsess over every little Apple-related story that Engadget posts.
But I love Vista. I have had problems with Vista, but to be honest, I really like it.
The reason that fanboys like myslef are so hated is becuase everyone assumes that all fanboys are people like clak who spend all of their time ranting on and on about how apple rocks and everyone else sucks.
Well believe it or not you can still be a fanboy AND appreciate other companies products at the same time.
I admire Microsoft's work. I think they are great. My primary computer runs Vista and I don't have a Mac. But I do love my iPhone. Believe it or not, it is possible to like both companies.
I agree with Applefan: I love my iPhone and iMac. But, I also really like Zunes (quite a bit more than the iPod Classic, honestly) and find them faster and easier to use. I prefer Mac OS over Vista, but find Vista fun and very usable.
I even briefly worked at an Apple Store until last year and I HATED that people painted me with the same brush as Zealot Apple Fanboys. Why? Because, most of those people who represent Apple on blogs don't work for them. I know a dozen people who work at Apple and most of them use Windows + Macs. Heck, two of the people I know there even use Zunes.
And if you read the Wired article with Xbox/Zune Chief J Allard, you'd find that he (and lots of his team) also use Macs as well as Windows.
So, yeah, I get a little annoyed when people like Clak try to represent us all, too.
For those looking for a device strictly for reading, the new Kobo is a nice little option. It's small enough to slip into a pocket, can do more with a PDF than the competition, and at $129, it's $10 cheaper than both the Nook and Kindle WiFi.

I've only build one setup that had problems with Vista. It was directly related to me not checking the HCL before ordering parts.
I do use a Mac on every day as my personal Desktop PC. But I do like Vista a lot. It just wasn't enough, to me.
I like the Zune better than any Ipod except maybe the touch (I'll give the touch the benefit of the fact I haven't really used it much).
Point is, I would still have my Zune if I could sync it on my mac. I'd consider buying another one if it was different enough than the first two.
