C'mon guys -- you're going to have to do better than this. First you show us that
beat looking gray phone with the "dot" front-facing camera. Now the dot has magically grown, and the gray face looks more and more like a Colorware job or a badly cut sticker. But you know what's really insulting? You show that colored plastic back, and then in the next picture, the original iPhone aluminum back is clearly visible. Honestly... it's like you're not even trying.

Is this just going to get more and more intense in the next 16 hours?
computer.dude.28 @ Jun 8th 2008 8:42PM
Yeah, it's that time again. 4 out of 5 engadget posts are gonna be about Apple.
Flashpoint @ Jun 8th 2008 8:45PM
gotta love engadget reporting every single cough Apple and the Apple knockoffs make.
Its like overwatch on Ted Kennedy.
ThePerfectCompanion @ Jun 8th 2008 9:20PM
I'm excited...about as much as clak....
Why is everyone so against him? He loves Apple. I don't see why everyones freaking out at him....
vileta2 @ Jun 8th 2008 9:32PM
Nothing wrong with liking Apple or any company.
But he's a trolling fanboy. That essay he managed to get posted first on the article about the touchscreen Zune? There's no way that he could've typed it up that fast. It was copypasta.
Ryan Karolak @ Jun 8th 2008 10:08PM
Yep. Get your fakes in before WWDC while you can! Prove you were the first to have a 3G iPhone before everyone else!
SCY @ Jun 9th 2008 12:00AM
Why do people go through the trouble of making these mock ups? Whats the point it seems so ridiculous.
Steffen Jobbs @ Jun 8th 2008 10:27PM
Only 4 out of 5 posts are going to be about the 3G iPhone. Now I'm disappointed. How about making it 5 out of 5 posts for the 3G iPhone.
What other news could be possibly worthwhile reading at this point in time. Right up to the time Steve Jobs steps up on stage and announces the 3G iPhone even a 50 mile wide asteroid headed directly for earth would be ho-hum news.
Hey, who's this obnoxious censor Nazi who wants people banned from Engadget because he doesn't agree with certain people's opinions? What the heck is going on here. Engadget is a wonderfully enjoyable site to read and I think certain readers are taking things far too seriously. Lighten up, people. Even though you think this is a field of honor and what is said here means something, you are totally wrong. What's said here doesn't mean squat.
Oh, by the way, that's a real picture of the 3G iPhone. I have a friend, who has a friend, that has a distant cousin that works at Hon Hai. He said it's the real deal. Front camera and all.
So when Steve Jobs steps up on stage and tells about how the 3G iPhone is going to unite all the people in the world through the power of global visual connectivity with iChat AV, throw up your hands and say hallelujah.
3G iPhone = epic WIN!
I enjoy being low-ranked, so bring it on. I wish they had a ranking counter to see if I'm in winning at low-ranks.
Bunson @ Jun 8th 2008 11:31PM
Clak and Steffen Jobs are so cool they wear long sleeve shirts under short sleeve shirts under long sleeve shirts.
Alan Zeino @ Jun 8th 2008 11:42PM
Until any of the images result in a take-down notice from Apple, I don't give a shit.
John @ Jun 8th 2008 8:12PM
I think we're all pretty sure at this point it will be silver/black with one button and a screen. What's the point of faking that?
spass @ Jun 8th 2008 9:02PM
Some losers are trying to direct some engadget traffic to their website - the one that's watermaked all over the image.
This is good reason actually, they could make good money with some clicks on their google adds.
Mam00th @ Jun 8th 2008 9:30PM
Dear everyone,
Please, stop answering clak's comments. Just ignore him.
PS: Afterall, just don't read his comment.
Sincerely,

@Mam00th: It's not a PS unless you put it after the signature.
See, I can be an Engadget commenter too!
RC @ Jun 8th 2008 11:01PM
Clak, please go away to TUAW. And never come back to Engadget. never.
Kizorblade @ Jun 9th 2008 3:18AM
I feel sorry for John, us spamming his inbox and all...
Apologies.
JJV @ Jun 9th 2008 8:20AM
Dear Mamooth
please stop answering in the wrong posts twice
thanks and have a crappy day
clak @ Jun 8th 2008 8:12PM
Oh, I can't wait for tomorrow! I'm thinking of calling in sick. Of course, my boss knows what an Apple fanatic I am, so that probably won't work.
Go into any comment section on Engadget where I'm a participant. Half of the comments will be bashing the gadget and the other half will be bashing me—Clak
happy_penguin @ Jun 8th 2008 8:24PM
Dude, I can't deny that I'm a bit anxious to see what they serve up tomorrow but that's just a bit pathetic.
Saad Rabia @ Jun 8th 2008 8:33PM
clikety clak.
Voted down.
God, freakin, dammit.
deyanimay @ Jun 8th 2008 8:34PM
How the hell does your boss know you are an apple fan, do you carry your fanboyism into the real world, talking about the superiority of apple to everyone you meet?
rhcpsfan @ Jun 8th 2008 8:42PM
wow clak, you had the nerve to make that same lame comment on two post
http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/08/sling-announces-proof-of-concept-slingplayer-mobile-for-iphone/
NumberXII @ Jun 8th 2008 8:48PM
At this point it's kind of a given Clak will be low ranked despite what he says.
BrokenMonkey @ Jun 8th 2008 8:56PM
Wouldn't it be nice if someone who got enough low ranks would be automatically perma-banned?
deyanimay @ Jun 8th 2008 9:01PM
no because then there would be no one to argue with.
Seth A @ Jun 8th 2008 9:03PM
Did you seriously post the exact same comment on two different Engadget stories? I mean, like, Copy and Pasting. Are you so dense you can't even make different pointless comments?
Richard Lai @ Jun 8th 2008 9:04PM
@deyanimay: that's what we want, isn't it? We want comments, not some childish rant followed by a bunch of pissed-off comments.
deyanimay @ Jun 8th 2008 9:06PM
At least through pissed off comments you can see peoples views on a subject.
Richard Lai @ Jun 8th 2008 9:08PM
@deyanimay: well, in this case the subject is clak, and our view is that he/she/it should be banned.
Jeremy K. @ Jun 8th 2008 9:10PM
Here he is, the Biggest Douche of the Universe!
deyanimay @ Jun 8th 2008 9:10PM
whats the use of banning he could just get a different ip address or use a proxy. by the was i was being sarcastic when i said "no because then there would be no one to argue with."
Nohone @ Jun 8th 2008 9:11PM
You know clak, you make your little over the top, pathetic comments, and usually add in your fan boy quote at the end. People mark you down, laugh at you, and add their rebuttal. And while you are a troll, it was your opinion, and I always thought the calls for you to be banned were not necessary.
But when you use a quote where you are talking about breaking into peoples houses, cutting throats, etc. you get reported, even if it was a "joke" - the first time I ever used that button. And those who want him banned, I suggest you click that same ! button.
Warren @ Jun 8th 2008 9:11PM
Im with ya clak. I put in for a vacation day and will be camped out in front of the Chandler, Az store in case Uncle Steve blesses us with a new phone on sale "immediately"
Richard Lai @ Jun 8th 2008 9:12PM
@deyanimay: with clak's posting style, I'm sure we can tell straight away that it's him/her/it.
deyanimay @ Jun 8th 2008 9:15PM
Maybe engadget can make a separate link next to the comment link saying "view clak's ranting" so that reading his comments is optional. But then again they have yet to add a comment editing system so i doubt they will add this
ThePerfectCompanion @ Jun 8th 2008 9:26PM
Lol look at the babies...>
WAH WAH WAH! I don't agree with someone so I want them BANNED! Now immediately!
I don't want anyone who loves Apple as religiously as clak obviously does to post here!
Even though I'm just as blatant an Apple HATER as he is an APPLE lover.
At the end of the day I love my Sony Vaio laptop running Windows Vista and I"m waiting with ridiculous anticipation for the announcement of the 3G iPhone which I'll probably buy on Day 1.
KarlW @ Jun 8th 2008 9:34PM
clak: I'm a mac user and developer with an iPhone and everything, and even I find your posts frustratingly fanboyish and ignorant.
Fact is, Microsoft do some things right. Their developer experience is miles above anything Apple can do. It's like Apple hate every developer by default and make it as difficult as they can on purpose. Apple do some stuff right as well. Their user experience is unparalleled, and their hardware is not only iconic, but well-built and thoughtful.
There's no need for fanboyism. Just because somebody else does well, doesn't mean you do less well. Each company/platform is judged by its own merit, and there's no need to expound it until you get banned. Save yourself, even if you don't care about the negative image carrying a Mac is starting to bring to people like me.
Derry Quinn @ Jun 8th 2008 9:46PM
Look clak, let's get one thing clear here, despite what the others say, I LOVE YOU!!!! You are the only person who speaks the truth round here! It's like they're brainwashed!
Richard Lai @ Jun 8th 2008 11:18PM
@ThePerfectCompanion: it's not about what clak likes, but it's about him being an over-the-top attention seeker.
By all means he's free to express his interests, but by also expressing that he's the centre of attention now (as you can see in his latest comments) it just gets on our nerves.
From now on I'm just going to ignore him. I just want Engadget to be a mature place again.
Bunson @ Jun 8th 2008 11:41PM
He enjoys so much people hating him. He enjoys conflict. I enjoy hating him.
avirji @ Jun 9th 2008 12:34AM
I really wish this whole Apple vs. Microsoft thing was just over. I mean, I love Apple too (maybe not to the extent that clak does), but it's starting to get ridiculous. There's not a single Apple/Microsoft post that doesn't have some stupid fanboy remark. So guys, please, just stop. And let's have some discussions relevant to the topic (IE, fake 3G iPhone). Thanks.
Mike10010100 @ Jun 9th 2008 12:52AM
Some day, clak, you are going to tick off the wrong people. Then, you can kiss your job, your money, and your life goodbye.
Until then, please just read engadget and shut up unless you have some useful information.
Really clak. You claim to listen to logic and reason. Listen to this:
You have stated your opinion so many times, someone could actually pose as you and nobody would realize it. State your opinion once and no more. Just shut up.
What do you want? For everyone to say that apple rules and microsoft sucks? What do you want to just go away? What will appease this beast?
PiperSon @ Jun 9th 2008 4:03AM
Well, here in the UK I've just got to work and reading this post and all of the replies is probably the highlight of my morning, so thanks everyone!
Ramin @ Jun 8th 2008 8:13PM
I actually think this is the real thing.
Ah well - I will always love my 1G iPhone :D
Kyle @ Jun 8th 2008 8:14PM
It couldn't be the real thing, as they point out the two pictures do not even match
Ramin @ Jun 8th 2008 8:15PM
Not this actual mockup - but the iPhone could look like this.
vagvoba @ Jun 8th 2008 10:22PM
FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE
- They've already removed the second photo (with the side view) from their website after Engadget discovered the inconsistencies. (They will probably apply some more Photoshop filters on the picture and put it back later as if nothing has happened.)
- Another proof: on the box of the phone there is no dark spot for the front camera while it's clearly visible on the phone itself. Apple wouldn't forget to show off such a killer feature on the packaging.
Kyle @ Jun 8th 2008 8:13PM
How is it news that this terrible faker keeps making even worse looking pictures. I don't get why someone who was willing to release one picture wouldn't just boot the device up and start snapping pictures. Either way your shitty website is going to get trashed.
greg mitchell @ Jun 8th 2008 8:15PM
omygosh... first post.. first time!! woww
