Nokia 4EVA!
habibpc @ Jun 8th 2008 5:41PM
the new iPhone? this link has a photo of it: http://hajix.com/apple-iphone-3g-new-pro/index.html
Some people say the new Apple iPhone 3G Cell phone, the next generation, will be announced by Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple inc. in California, and some say it will be in the Europe.
I have seen a photo, a real image of the iPhone 3G, in white (which I think is going to be available in red, black and silver aluminum too) but this photo is more or less touched. it looks beautiful and materials they used are awesome.
Khris @ Jun 8th 2008 3:45PM
Yes yes......Nokia will be around forever to remind us what a cell phone shouldn't be.
Engadgetluvsappl @ Jun 8th 2008 3:48PM
Haha, you only say that because Nokia ignore the US market, yet they still dominate so heavily!
iEye @ Jun 8th 2008 3:59PM
Well it is easy to sell tons of $10 crap handsets...
and where did that model get Motorola...
I'll look to Nokia the next time I want a handset with an LED flashlight...
Engadgetluvsappl @ Jun 8th 2008 4:04PM
Yup, 15 million S60 devices in Q1 are surely £5 crap handsets, correct?
Motorola never had really significant marketshare and their phones sucked. Two things you certainly can't say about Nokia.
I'll look to the American market next time I want a shitty phone!
iEye @ Jun 8th 2008 4:23PM
I'd rather take a HOP ON POP cell phone that a nokia...
Rich @ Jun 8th 2008 5:20PM
"Well it is easy to sell tons of $10 crap handsets..."
If it's easy, why isn't everyone doing it?
Making cheap phones is a much harder proposition than building an expensive phone. Building something expensive is easy.
rhcpsfan @ Jun 8th 2008 5:50PM
screw all of those phones . this ones the coolest http://www.jitterbug.com/phonesOnetouch.aspx
Steffen Jobbs @ Jun 8th 2008 7:52PM
The box the 3G iPhone comes in looks better than the N95 and they both have about the same thickness.
Once the iPhone goes on sale, the HTC Touch Diamond and Samsung InSTINKt will be tossed like seconds-old used toilet paper.
Why is @habibpc getting low-ranked for his comment. You people are really strange since he said nothing obnoxious about sucky WinMo handsets or crappy Zunes.
Nokia makes fine handsets, but they're going to come up short in the smartphone market in the next couple of quarters.
I'm the one that deserves the low-ranking. Thanks in advance.
Scott @ Jun 8th 2008 9:47PM
Please tell me you're planning on live-blogging with the newest information at the top! Thanks!
mehrad @ Jun 8th 2008 2:52PM
Only rumor I really wish to be true is the $299 one. Cannot wait!
spass @ Jun 8th 2008 3:06PM
I am a bit greedier...
Khris @ Jun 8th 2008 3:44PM
Only two words will make me happy......
Rogers iPhone
Brendan Sheehan @ Jun 8th 2008 4:44PM
The rumor I want to be true is the one where it pays you when you make calls.
ryan @ Jun 8th 2008 2:52PM
T-minus 22 hours 7 mins and 20 secs on the east coast(I got a countdown widget for my dashboard and everything)
JJV @ Jun 8th 2008 2:57PM
lol nerd
JJV @ Jun 8th 2008 2:57PM
*secretly sets alram clocks to go off 1 hour before so he can prepare himself*
JJV @ Jun 8th 2008 2:58PM
alarm* damn my fast clicking speed
Bosco @ Jun 8th 2008 3:39PM
Typical east coast bias. You guys get to see the keynote three hours before us on the west coast. I just hope there's an east coast feed somewhere on the Internet tomorrow morning.
Ethyriel @ Jun 8th 2008 3:44PM
I don't even want to know how that logic works.
Kizorblade @ Jun 8th 2008 3:55PM
Actually, it happens at the same time, all around the world, so there is no need to be shouting that things happen 3 hour before or after x.
carpel tunnel @ Jun 8th 2008 4:28PM
Nice,
There will be a whole barge load of BS delivered as usual, and you are just waiting to suck up every last drop of Steve's crap. The only more ridiculous BS laden marketing messages comes from the worlds religions.
There will be a lot of words like "most" "thin" "fastest" "best"
and for the most part they will be wrong. Every apple product I have owned has had high initial eye candy (nice packaging and nice looking) but has been crap in the longer term (seems designed to last about a year). Lets face it the iPhone 2 will be another locked down POS that has to be hacked to work semi-properly and the only innovative thing about it is the UI.
I only read these apple things now, because I desperately want the iPhone to come to Canada as it is my hope that it will provide the impetus to change our brutal mobile data pricing.
Josh @ Jun 8th 2008 4:29PM
You think you got it bad, we here in the UK get the feed 4 hours before WWDC even begins!
tony @ Jun 8th 2008 5:34PM
I really hope you guys aren't serious. Ryan, your countdown is the same no matter what part of the world you're in... and Bosco.. I'm not even going to bother.
Colin Potter @ Jun 8th 2008 5:38PM
There will be a lot of words like "most" "thin" "fastest" "best"
Steve Jobs: "Most people are expecting me to come out here and announce a newer, thinner iPhone, that was the fastest spreading rumor I've ever seen! Best be prepared folks because I'm merely here to announce that we will not be making any changes to the iPhone!"
Christy McGrory @ Jun 8th 2008 7:25PM
Christ, I'm sorry I have to say this, but some people really don't have any common sense at all. Here:
07:00AM - Hawaii
10:00AM - Pacific
11:00AM - Mountain
12:00PM - Central
01:00PM - Eastern
05:00PM - GMT
06:00PM - London
07:00PM - Paris
02:00AM - Tokyo (June 10th)
Wherever you are in the world, the event is still going to happen at the same relative time, but because of the way the earth rotates (a theory I'm not even going to bother explaining) in some places, it will be dark. Which is where the time zones come into effect. Christ, now that was easy, wasn't it?
fishcake @ Jun 8th 2008 8:36PM
i'm sorry christy but you're an idiot for thinking these guys are being serious
Seth A @ Jun 8th 2008 9:15PM
You would be surprised, I went to an American High School...
Christy McGrory @ Jun 9th 2008 5:55AM
Yeah well fishcake, they lack the ability to see that computers suck at sarcasm, which you claim they are trying to be, so them being even having an ounce of common sense is out of the question.
Twitchy @ Jun 9th 2008 7:04AM
I live in New Zealand and I'll be fucked if I'm getting up at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning. I'll read the Engadget play-by-play posts over my morning coffee.
happy_penguin @ Jun 8th 2008 2:53PM
...with bells on...
Jesse S @ Jun 8th 2008 3:00PM
So presentations about Apple get two posts before it actually happens, and MS gets none?
lol, no bias apparent there at all.
ReggieXuk @ Jun 8th 2008 3:06PM
steve jobs sleeps with everyone from engadget didnt you know?
JJV @ Jun 8th 2008 3:12PM
Actually i think the count is at aroundd 4 or so
the one we are on
http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/04/apple-to-introduce-os-x-10-6-snow-leopard-at-wwdc/
http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/13/steve-jobs-to-speak-at-wwdc-2008-no-way-hell-talk-about-new-ip/
http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/05/pre-wwdc-iphone-rumor-roundup-atandt-out-of-stock-subsidized-pri/
and if you count all the iPhone ones it is significantly higher
but i think apple is amazing so i dont care if its biased or not!
DarkUltra @ Jun 8th 2008 3:12PM
because Apple doesn't release half finished products? Im aiming at Vista or windows mobile here, my iphone is very thought through compared to my dell axim x50v to put it mildly. An example with vista is remote desktop doesn't work between xp and vista.
Big Ed @ Jun 8th 2008 3:13PM
Mabey it's because Steve is cool and Bill Gates is a pathetic old man:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHO8l-Bd1O4
(j/k btw)
John @ Jun 8th 2008 3:44PM
While Apple fanboys are busy partying to the beat of the reality distortion field, Microsoft fanboys stay at home in the basement, meticulously counting the number of posts Engadget makes about Apple, hoping one day that number will be useful to someone other than themselves.
computer.dude.28 @ Jun 8th 2008 3:59PM
DarkUltra What are you talking about Remote desktop doesn't work between xp and vista.. I Remote Desktop from my Vista box to my XP box and my school only runs XP and I always Remote Desktop into my Vista at home from there.
Will @ Jun 8th 2008 4:28PM
Um, Engadget posts what gets pageviews, and Apple gets pageviews. Deal with it.
Prokanda @ Jun 8th 2008 4:45PM
I think the really funny part here is a sour-apple talking about a new-ish OS that won't interact with an old one (even if he is wrong.. which makes it even better)....
....because apple cared about those that had OS9 and scsi devices when they started transitioning, right? apple always looks to making your hardware last as long as possible, right?
let's not talk about a company trying to save you money or trying to make your software/hardware last as long as it can and be compatible. apple are some of the worst about that.
Ignatius @ Jun 8th 2008 5:21PM
What's more sad is that people will actually throw away their old iPhones just to get new ones. God, I hate people who just follow a trend. I hope your mortgage falls flat and you end up penniless on the streets with your precious iPhone.
John @ Jun 8th 2008 6:22PM
Aw, poor Ignatius, jealous of people that don't live paycheck to paycheck that can splurge on things they want once in a while. Sorry you're still feeling the sting of that mortgage you took out, but that's what happens when you buy what you can't pay for.
Deed @ Jun 8th 2008 7:03PM
John I was going to convolute a witty rebuttal mimicking what you typed, but it's not worth the neural energy after a fairly tiring weekend.
In short: enjoy your butthurt from somebody bashing your precious product that you'll still happily get shot of because you couldn't wait to buy it at launch and you'll soon think you're saddled with something like so 2007 man now that the NEW HYPER-UPGRADED VERSION IS OUT.
Ignatius @ Jun 8th 2008 7:08PM
Actually, I don't have a mortgage. Second of all, if you're actually cynical enough to think that splurging on this kind of stuff version after version.. wow, I've got Crap v1.0 to sell you for $500. 2.0 will be twice the price and have twice the bullshit available.
jax @ Jun 9th 2008 7:01AM
c'mon guys, does it really matter? If someone enjoys having the latest iPhone, then let them have it. If they have the money and they enjoy it, it's their choice. People do it all the time; cars, computers, clothes, shoes, houses etc. I'm sure $299/$399 isn't going to make someone's mortgage fall flat, unless other circumstances make things hard, in which case I would hope they would have the sense hold back from spending non-disposable cash on non-essential items
Robert @ Jun 8th 2008 3:02PM
Meh, theres a Microsoft thing going on?
Mike D @ Jun 9th 2008 8:01AM
Well some of us are hoping for 360 news...
Dorv @ Jun 8th 2008 3:03PM
I'm looking forward to it, but its not like the new iPhone will be available tomorrow or anything.
(I mean, I've already got some money put away in case it is)
I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade to a model with more memory, and 3G and possibly GPS are enough of a reason for me. I won my iPhone 1.0 in a drawing anyways (thanks be to luck), so I don't mind paying for one now.
Striker @ Jun 8th 2008 3:10PM
The memory limitations on the iPhone and iPod touch are terrible. I feel it is unacceptable for a mobile OS to be using 96MB out of 120MB all the time, and what makes it even worse is that the user is only allocated 96MB, so when you load a graphic-heavy website in Safari it crashes.
Typed from my jailbroken iPod touch.
