ASUS VW223B and VW202B DisplayLink monitors now on sale
We originally spotted ASUS' DisplayLink-equipped VW223B back at CeBIT, but now it -- alongside the 20.1-inch VW202B -- is finally available. Both LCDs boast a WSXGA+ (1,680 x 1,050) resolution, 300 cd/m2 brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 5-millisecond response time and VGA / USB 2.0 connectors. The USB functionality is being coined EzLink by ASUS, but it's no different than the DisplayLink you've grown to know and love. As per ASUS' apparent internal guidelines, it has completely failed in dishing out pricing information for the freshly available duo, but hey, at least we know they're out there!

I only wish it didn't have mediocre specs, I've come to expect more from ASUS.

It's probably the USB that makes it mediocre. You've got to sacrifice some of the good stuff for that convenience.

mediocre is the new black

The constrast ratio seems to have slipped from 3000:1 all the way down to 1000:1 since CeBIT...

That's probably due to dynamic contrast - all the manufacturers seem to do it, but its generally regarded to be just distracting. They just want to increase the figure that they write on paper, so that figure obsessed (or not knowing anything else) consumers will think it's awesome
personally I always the ignore the 'inflated' figure.
Anyway what makes a monitor for me is the image quality, and Asus have been getting steadily better in that department, so I'm looking forward to a serious review.

I love many ASUS products, but I'm a bit confused as to how these monitors are different/better than all the other 20.1/22 " monitors out there...

I think its that Ezlink (displaylink) stuff; something about making daisy chains out of monitors...

nice, hopefully this is a reliable and cost-effective way to expand my laptop with more screenspace. How long does it usually take between now and when you can order these things...
