I thought El Jobso was clear when he said it would have a *maximum* price of $199 worldwide for the 8GB model. In other words, carriers can charge less but Apple will prevent them from charging more.
I hope it will be a free upgrade option for people on more expensive contracts. I was recently offered an upgrade for renewing my contract and I got the blackberry with the GPS, but I would have bought the iphone in a heartbeat if it had been an option.

I'll probably get one, it's the price point that's done it for me. Even though it'll probably be OVER £200 in the UK.

It should be about £130 considering extra tax but no, really it's never going to be that.
And probably around €200 (which is about $312) in the Netherlands and other European countries.

I feel the same, I would be AMAZED if it were to be £100 here in the u.k :( Maybe O2 will put together a deal, maybe 3yr contract £299 phone?
