You think we're tired of
Omen and
Envy 133 yet? Fat chance. That LCD-bedecked desktop behemoth and thintop contender (pictured) are both quite a new direction Voodoo, and their launch seems particularly good timing given Dell's
apparent reshuffling of its XPS and Alienware lineups. But forget market appropriateness, let's concentrate on the sexy...

The name VooDoo Omen scares me almost as much as Vista does.
theapple @ Jun 10th 2008 12:10PM
Looks more like a bible
roach @ Jun 10th 2008 12:42PM
Time to update your info, Vista equals and at times beats XP in gaming tests.

No no no! It's about the sexiest thing ever. Literally. I jizzed when I saw this. Brb, need to get new boxers.
Ace b @ Jun 10th 2008 1:29PM
Damn that thing looks hot.If I was a pc,I'd love to stick my usb drive in her ports, that is for sure.
John @ Jun 10th 2008 2:32PM
Wow, a glossy surface that I can get my handprint on instead of just my fingers! Great!
James @ Jun 10th 2008 6:16PM
*Throws out Macbook Pro*
SHINYERRR!!
Metkis @ Jun 10th 2008 10:46PM
Benchmarks don't make Vista a good product.
XP FTW
Reality Check @ Jun 10th 2008 11:58AM
It's still running Windoze...
Next.
ijyt @ Jun 10th 2008 12:26PM
Another fanboy. Next.
Minilap @ Jun 10th 2008 12:36PM
I'm sure it could run XP SP2 and that's one hell of a stable OS.
but anyways OSX FTW. I'm not a fanboy but reality is OSX FTW.
roach @ Jun 10th 2008 12:51PM
OSX wouldn't know what to do with all those hardware inside this computer, so I guess OSX would make this computer a brain dead computer...a lot worst than windoze.
I'll give respect to OSX, once it can works on thousands of different hardware configuration. Man, Apple still manage to create bugs with hardware they put together.
Andune @ Jun 10th 2008 12:53PM
Yeah it might be running "Windoze" but that doesn't change the fact that the computer looks pretty awesome.
It may be just a bit too glossy for my taste but it beats the plastic look of the X300.
Minilap @ Jun 10th 2008 1:09PM
OSX could run on "thousands of different hardware configuration" but you need to be an osx nerd like me to make it happen. :D
Hamidxa @ Jun 10th 2008 1:25PM
Roach
:D Well put
nikster @ Jun 10th 2008 9:29PM
@roach I predict you will eat your words once somebody gets OS X x86 running on that thing. Which will happen shortly, I am sure.
Apple spends a lot of time making sure OS X _doesn't_ run on other hardware, so considering that it seems pretty flexible ;)
Metkis @ Jun 13th 2008 12:10AM
As Nikster said, this thing will probably be running OSX without problems. Specifically if the same CPU is used in it from the Air. Honestly if this thing ran OSX, why would anyone really desire the Air more?
Conor Maher @ Jun 10th 2008 11:59AM
Its soooo shy kneee!!!!
Pfanne @ Jun 10th 2008 12:00PM
less glossy and its the best notebook ever made!
Kizorblade @ Jun 10th 2008 12:02PM
I may be known for my pro apple views but let it be known:
That is one sexy laptop.
And the desktop one looks good as well.
I'm liking where this is headed... more competition? Gimme gimme.
Reid @ Jun 10th 2008 6:39PM
Sexy. Fingerprints galore, but still, sexy.
OneLove @ Jun 10th 2008 12:07PM
Those were the weakest press shots ever? Why all the shots of the back of the laptop or half open?(...and whats with the chubby guy?)
Clinton @ Jun 10th 2008 12:07PM
Is it me or does this look very similar to the titanium powerbook powerbook?
Brian @ Jun 10th 2008 12:30PM
A laptop that looks similar to another laptop...
...Impossible
Metkis @ Jun 10th 2008 10:51PM
I think it's another iPhone rip-off!!!
Oh wait...
Maestro @ Jun 10th 2008 12:13PM

On the omen you can see on the back the slot through which all the cables will come out.
(the graphics cards' exhaust faces up), so do all the ports on the motherboard.)
ijyt @ Jun 10th 2008 12:23PM
Could you play Black & White (either 1 or 2) on this?
ijyt @ Jun 10th 2008 3:37PM
That wasn't meant to be a bad joke, I really don't know if the intel graphics can run it.
onin @ Jun 10th 2008 12:24PM
BADASS!
marcin @ Jun 10th 2008 12:26PM
the Envy is the hottest laptop ever. i was planning on either getting an ultraportable or a thinkpad with my moms ibm discount, but this Envy and its features are just unbelievable.
i'm not even a pc gamer, i just want it because its so sleek, sexy, and feature filled.
the ethernet port on the power supply makes so much sense too. heck, even the bottom of the laptop looks sleek and isnt covered in vents, etc.
Derbeste @ Jun 10th 2008 12:29PM
Well it maybe sexy and all but until I can get one without a 2 year ATnT contract I'll be taking my busin....
wait....
That isn't an iPhone?
Sorry...I just assumed.
That laptop is dead sexy. :)
Lamp @ Jun 10th 2008 12:30PM
wow that gloss is gorgeous...
id be scared to touch it though.
the aluminum omen is looking kinda mac-ish,
i must say.
still great though,
i hope more companies turn to aluminum.
Mark Anderson @ Jun 10th 2008 12:37PM
Mmm... sexy.
So is this the new thinnest laptop?
Andune @ Jun 10th 2008 12:47PM
Well the Macbook Air have thinner CakeCutting™ edges but yes, this is 0.06-inches (1.5mm) thinner...
Corpusninja @ Jun 10th 2008 12:40PM
I hope this going to be sold in the UK. Would definitely consider it.
ijyt @ Jun 10th 2008 12:41PM
Definitely. I wonder if HP/Voodoo will let you upgrade if they end up adding better intergrated graphics.
happy_penguin @ Jun 10th 2008 12:46PM
Fucking gorgeous.
GenBanks @ Jun 10th 2008 12:46PM
I would slaughter a whole Pict village for this thing!
roach @ Jun 10th 2008 12:48PM

this comments is towards Reality Check
Kizorblade @ Jun 10th 2008 12:53PM
Errr, the Envy I think would run OS X... not too sure about the Omen.
ijyt @ Jun 10th 2008 12:56PM
So a laptop will run OS X better than a fully kitted out tower?
Lamp @ Jun 10th 2008 2:22PM
hey the first attack comment.
osx is DESIGNED to run on mac products.
its not "osx can't run on this hardware",
apple made it that way so you have to buy their product.
Zak @ Jun 10th 2008 4:14PM
Right, just like OS X wouldn't know what do to with an 8-core Xeon or 32 GB of RAM. Oh wait... yes it would. It would also know what to do with 1100 G5s clustered together to form the world's 3rd fastest supercomputer when it was built. It's at Virginia Tech, look it up. And yes, it does run out of the box OS X.
But yeah, I'm sure OS X wouldn't know what to do with a single laptop. Try not to be a complete moron.
lilo @ Jun 10th 2008 4:50PM
Zak, it is you who is a moron here. * cores and XXX RAM? It's easy. Every OS can do this. Try 100 different peripheral devices (like in drivers for diferent graphic cards etc.)
Too bad Apple spends more money on brain washing "Zaks" than on software development.
Zak @ Jun 10th 2008 6:24PM
Really? I can't run hundreds of peripheral devices on a Mac? This is news to me, because I have run hundreds of peripherals on Macs over the years. I doubt you've ever tried it though, otherwise you wouldn't have brought that up as a "valid" point.
And yes, every OS can do that. That's why I was pointing out how stupid it was for roach to suggest OS X wouldn't know what to do with that hardware. Did you miss that part?
krizoitz @ Jun 10th 2008 11:27PM
Wow, way to be a moron. As a Mac user at home and PC user at work, first thing I want to see is that this is a great looking laptop with a great feature set, and if i was looking for a Windows laptop this is the one I would get.
Having said that, your criticism is ridiculous. So OS X doesn't run every odds and ends hardware component, so what?? Do you know how few people actually need those? You think the people who read Engadget are the normal ones? Hell no we aren't, we are the weird ones! We are the minority. How many different types of case fans you really need if the one that comes with the PC does what you need it to? How many raid controllers or network cards? Seriously? Oh yeah, then there is the fact that Windows doesn't exactly work so well with all those devices anyway.
So drop your anti-mac loozer hat, enjoy the PC you built as long as it works for ya and move on...
shabbis @ Jun 10th 2008 12:49PM
Good luck trying to keep that glossy palm rest clean. Besides that, it's a nice laptop.
A design like this is something that is sorely needed in the PC market, something Apple has be doing for years, a simple, clean and elegant design. Ditch all the flashing lights, all the useless media buttons, all the vendor stickers and all the ports no one uses most of the time anyway.
