More iPhone 3G details: future Apple-made chips, varying visual voicemail, and new video features
There's still plenty of emerging details and news on the iPhone 3G kicking around, but here's what you need to know from the minor bits floating around over the past few days:- Jobs also told NYT that Apple's acquisition of PA Semi was, in fact, intended to reduce Apple's reliance on third-party chip makers. Specifically, he said, "PA Semi is going to do system-on-chips for iPhones and iPods." So, guess that's that.
- Per the feature showing up missing on a number of Apple's international iPhone 3G product pages, iLounge compiled a list of carriers which may or may not planning on implementing visual voicemail. Vodafone in Europe, for example, will not have it at launch, and will delay its rollout until later this year.
- A video of a new iPhone beta build running on live hardware shows videos now in portrait or landscape modes, and includes video playlists. We'll take it.
- Although DT's iPhone page reads differently, German paper Welt has it that T-Mobile Germany will be selling it for €1 -- so basically free, not unlike O2's iPhone 3G launch in the UK.

Of course it has bluetooth. The original already had that. But the utility of bluetooth on iPhone is a bit limited compared to some other phones.
Hey I don't know much about A-GPS..Does the phone need a 3g connection for the GPS to locate the device? Does the cell signal only help to supplement the satellite signal..?
Aw, poor baby, bitchin' and moanin' like a six-year-old hissie sissie. Let papa give you a great big iPhone 3G crank from behind. It's not that we don't love ya, it's just that you need to take a humongous chill pill.
iPhone 3G with a cherry on top = TITANIC WIN
Hahahahaha. Can't wait till we get to the 200th article.
Well Australia will be one of the first ones to get the iPhone 3G because of the time difference and its being released everywhere on July 11th, So i'll do a review on my blog when I get it if anyones interested the night before you get yours. I'm especially curious about how good the GPS will be :) Heres the address...

You don't need the cell towers for a GPS fix, it's just there to speed up the process if available. You don't need a 3G signal either. However you do need reception to utilise the A-GPS.
Steffen, if you're looking for an adjective that points to something being a big success, perhaps "Titanic" isn't your best bet...

OMFG, people! If you want more information on the negative aspects of the new iPhone, then please subscribe to www.cnet.com. They rarely report on Apple products and seem to by in sync with PC users more. The fact you keep coming back and commenting negatively on the new iPhone says something about you and your obsessions. I don't go bashing Cnet for not enough reporting on Apple products. It's really that simple.
"we all know the new iphone sucks"
stfu! we dont want to hear your wining about the iphone! if you think it sucks then good riddance! we dont need you! leave!
dont even try to call me a fanboy cuz honestly, im not a fanboy of either mac of windows but this is getting really annoying. if you dont have anything nice to say. then dont say it! dumb @$$
If I buy 2 iPhones on 7/11 with a new AT&T 550 minute FamilyTalk plan, how much is the data going to cost? Will $30 cover the data for both phones? Or will I have to pay $30 for data for each phone separately? A commenter on a previous article suggested that I might only have to pay $30/month for both but I'm just searching for someone to corroborate that.
Guys! I'm not sure if they've announced this but I just noticed a picture that may mean that Apple with release iCAL for PC! Just look at this link and look at the P.C. screen it looks exactly like the iCal layout!!!!!! They could release address book and stuff like that!
