Gaze Interaction interface tweaked for gaming
Remember that Gaze prototype we showed you, oh, not even a week ago? Turns out, a similar setup has received a healthy amount of funding from the EU, and unlike sluggish systems of the past, this one may enable people with severe motor disabilities to engage in 3D gaming. Communication by Gaze Interaction (COGAIN) is designed to speed up the eye-computer interfacing by recognizing when users look off screen; in doing so, the system can switch between modes or perform any number of tasks not easily accomplished by simply peering in a different direction. Reportedly, Stephen Vickers (the creator of this fantastic stuff) is hoping to begin software trials within the next dozen months, though future implementation still remains somewhat fuzzy at the moment.

The real pressing question is.... will it get me laid?
Well?
Oh, it's for disabled folks?
.....Will it get me laid?
I don't have the motor skills to get laid.
That's enough.
Yes.... a FPS where you "look" at the guy to aim, and "blink" to shoot.
Of course using a machine gun means you'll miss most of the action.
Well that way most games will be rated E since you won't see people die.
I suppose you could overcome that "limitation" by only blinking one eye. :)
fuck you guys. i saw that episode of star trek. I'm not playing your "Game" unless i get to make out with Ashley Judd at the end of the episode.
Jeez howd this get low ranked? I'd wear 10 of these to get with Judd.
Whoa! Now you can virtually shoot lasers out of your eyes! PEW PEW PEW!!
Always glad to see more progress. With real time ray tracing and physics rapidly approaching, the interface will become the bottleneck for gaming very quickly.
"COGAIN IS A HELLEVA DRUG"...haha i had to.
rofl Rick James b*tch!
Check out this presenter using a Wii remote to do the same thing, for under $40.
Head Tracking, though useful, isn't the same thing as eye tracking. The former can give you a user's "perspective" (as if they were looking through a Window), whereas the latter (this) actually senses exactly what area of the screen a person is focused on.

No vid...no care
Ah yes, and so the YouTube generation finally begins demanding any and all information in video format. We have lost.
So youtubehater
how else can we know how the vid interaction with eye movement?
if they have a picture then why not a vid
its simple really, they say a picture has 1000 words, so a 1 minute vid that has 25fps would have 1,500,000 words then.
Here is the YouTube link to the World of Warcraft eye gaze interaction video:

or maybe it will let me embed it?:
Now this is too cool.
Technology and gaming really are making parents nervous though. According to this article, gaming has both advantages and disadvantages :
