HTC's hit us with some
sexy new handsets lately, but a new report from DigiTimes says that the juggernaut ODM is getting ready to make some MID waves, and soon. Apparently inspired by the success of the Eee (who hasn't been?), HTC is rumored to be prepping devices based on Intel's
Atom and Qualcomm's
Snapdragon platforms, as well as up to 10 new phones in the second quarter of the year -- which, conveniently enough, is this quarter. There's no word on what we might be seeing apart from some new Diamond and Touch Pro handsets, but hopefully we'll see soon enough -- or just be left broken-hearted by yet another unsourced DigiTimes rumor.

"snapdragon?"
That is thename of a Vietnamese prositute I heard in war stories.
nerdtalker @ Jun 16th 2008 9:16PM
Wow, HTC is moving on up! Hopefully the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro aren't outshined by iPhone 3G, because I love my HTC Mogul, HTC Apache, and a bevy of other HTC devices I've owned that they've been the OEM of.
Any word on how many of these devices tentatively will run Android or WM7? WM6.1 is certainly better than 6, but still lacks polish, and that comes from a hardcore PPC user.
JohnTitor @ Jun 16th 2008 10:36PM
well unfortunately they will get outshined by the iPhone in the US where many people use HTC but don't know the brand. The first android phone by HTC will be the Dream, previewed by Google not to long ago, as for WM7, HTC's been good with giving upgrades, so I suspect that at least the Touch Pro and Diamond will get them sometime

Now this is an exciting news engadget.
kccboy2004 @ Jun 16th 2008 9:43PM
Yep this is tremendous. I think that the stars are aligning:
HTC
Android
Atom
In fact that acronym might be appropriate for them, HAA HAA.
TareX @ Jun 16th 2008 10:09PM
The possibility of these 3 words in one device alone is... too much for me.

Anybody else seen CNet's review on the Samsung Instinct:
CNET gave this phone an "8.0" rating, read this from their site...
I quote:
"The bad: The Samsung Instinct lacks Wi-Fi and instant messaging, and its call and video quality were erratic. Also, its Internet browser could be refined, its internal memory is small, and its camera lacks editing features.
The bottom line: The Samsung Instinct stands out as one of Sprint's finest devices to date. It's just too bad its call quality could use some improvement."
Geez ! How can you give an 8.0 to a PHOME that you describe as having "erratic CALL quality" and bad call quality.
Wow, CNET needs a shake.

computer.dude.28 @ Jun 16th 2008 10:04PM
You will miss out on everything but Apple products.. so.. everything.
zach rattner @ Jun 16th 2008 9:57PM
OK, bad joke. I thought I could hide the profile behind the username and give everyone a good laugh. No such luck.
When will engadget give us the ability to edit posts? And give us "make profile private" buttons that actually work?
computer.dude.28 @ Jun 16th 2008 10:06PM
The actual Clak's profile is private, so it obviously worked for him.. or maybe Engadget just felt sorry for him and made an exception.
gylman @ Jun 16th 2008 10:29PM
I dunno, HTC has lost their cred with me ever since the fiasco with their graphics drivers on the Advantage and other handhelds.
Their stuff looks sexy, but....
kccboy2004 @ Jun 16th 2008 10:31PM
@Minilap

This is a blog for discussion. There are no limits. Certianly none set by you. You Berk.

But I despite this I have always been successful in everything I do. Way to overcome adversity !
But please tell me, when I do a search for "Engadget Forum" it directs me to this site. Do you think that we should tell Google or Engadget that something is wrong ? Berk.
