PSP firmware 4.00 due "soon," adds Google search to XMB

There's no indication of an exact release date just yet, but word just dropped on the official PlayStation blog that the PSP will be getting a boost to firmware version 4.00 "soon." That'll bring with it the addition of Google search directly form the XMB interface, which Sony says "replicates the Google Internet search experience." Apart from that somewhat notable upgrade, the only other new feature they're talking about at the moment is the ability to change the viewing speed during playback of videos stored on a Memory Stick. Not exactly the upgrade we would have guessed for a milestone like 4.00, but we can always hope Sony has a couple of surprises up its sleeve.

ehhh...whatever. I guess it will replace the bookmark I had. Better than a kick in the head.
The ability to adjust the playback I will enjoy when used with videos and with the recording ability of the 1SEG TV...at least during the Sumo basho.

Dude!!! Sony has to be joking, right? This cannot possibly every new feature in the 4.00 firmware update! Yeah, I would hope for Divx but I would also like to see Flash 9 and a Net-Front Browser update! Could Flash 9 not take advantage of the PSP's video acceleration hardware, even via a browser plugin? I would like to see video/picture/song beaming and/or syncing from the PSP to the PS3 via Wifi... Movie renting on PS3/PC to the PSP would be another plus!

the best firmware for the PSP is still the original 3.03 OE-C by Dark Alex!
sony just made one mistake after an other with the PSP...no wonder about the hacking scene around it...but thats another story ;P
