Android on a Nokia N95 captured on video
We don't know too much about the clip you're about to watch, but we can tell you this: someone has apparently gone and gotten Android up and running on a Nokia N95, and they've captured it on the lowest quality video we've ever seen. It's unclear whether this is natively installed or not, but it seems to be getting data (as you can see Google Maps doing its thing). The dialer is also brought up and appears to make a call -- but it's pretty hard to know if that's just a demo of the app or if this guy actually has a semi-functional Android device. Check the video after the break and judge for yourself.

hmmm, worst the video quality, real the thing is.
Yep, this sure is real, as proved by the video!
is that a cylon?
I thought it was a cylon, too. I assume that's an Android effect, not an N95 thing (I've never seen an N95).
Google's scaring me now:
Android --> Cylons / Skynet --> Death to us all
Hmmm, just smells of fake really....
Not Bad. Working fast.
What's to say this isn't just a video running on the phone? You don't see the user press any buttons at any time......i call fake on this.
Did you see there are buttons at the bottom of the phone that aren't show in the video?
Yes, I think that every person and their dog knows what an N95 looks like by now. What i was saying is that you don't see the user controlling what is happening on screen. The only time you see the persons hand is around the 2min mark and it doesnt seem to be moving....
Or it could be running Symbian VNC on the N95, and Android is remotely displayed from a demo unit.
Wow that is the worst cell video iv ever seen. But the concept is very interesting. OK Android hurry up the wait is killing me. I want my open source OS.
Google only has about 23 days left to convince me to hold out for an Android phone. This video isn't doing the trick.
Extremely low quality video of an N95 running on Android, or two guys DPing a hooker? I can't tell. Needless to say I started getting turned on halfway through, so I'll go with the latter.
My vote for BEST COMMENT EVER.
Im surprised we have not seen more leaks like this...
Well its obvious he put his money where it counts, on a nice phone and not on a nice video camera.
I hadn't heard of Android on n95 before, that's quite interesting (especially since I own an n95). Where I am data access is expensive and Android is pretty 'net dependent, but by the time they get everything working maybe this will have changed.
Does anyone have links to a project page? I've seen a few youtube videos, butthey're not trustworthy.
This is great. The more people porting this over to other phones, the better the final product will be.
dzo on XDA-Developers has had this running on an HTC Touch for quite a while. I've installed it, and it works pretty good.
Data/phone/google maps/ and they recently added SMS.

Technically, dzo's builds are for the HTC Vogue (CDMA equivalent of HTC Touch, which uses a different processor). So it will work on the CDMA Sprint Touch, but not the GSM HTC Touch.
That being said, I've been playing with it for the last few months on my Sprint Touch and dzo has made HUGE progress! While it's not ready for primetime just yet, it's definitely moving in that direction... I particularly like the haptic feedback with the onscreen keyboard.
there seems to be another video, equal crap quality, presumably showing dual boot S60 and android on N95.

I reckon this very fake. An API demo I reckon which is a Java app... http://teavuihuang.com/android/
Well, assuming for a second that it's real and true...
It would be interesting to see if Android could be run on an E90. Though, it'd also be nice to see USA 3G versionS* of the E90, upon which to run Android...
(* where I mean "both AT&T and T-Mobile" when I say "USA 3G")
And, what would this imply about running Android on the E71?
thank god i have a 'mute' button on my keyboard.
He's probably using the N95 android emulator http://teavuihuang.com/android/
ok scratch that, I've had a play and give this a lot more credence now... muchos interesting.

Theres another video, from the same guy, how the hell did you miss it?
Blurry video, check!
Somebody needs a new camera...
Whats about Android on iPhone 3G, that would be fun?
Could it just be a video playing on the phone?
001555? What the hell kind of phone number is that? It's not even the right length, let alone a valid phone number. That wouldn't even work in the pre-mandatory-area-code days. Even if this was natively installed, I'd be willing to bet that the phone feature does not work well or at all.
yes, since all phone number world wide must stick to the standard US representation... though its not the same area format as phone numbers from round here either...

they are all just demos...
Hi all.

Nice phones. The N95 looks awesome. If only it weren't running Android...
Nice work Munch!!
It's about time the highend N95 and of course other symbian phones are getting a nice looking and fast OS!
Btw. What's the state of progress? Could you please indiciate when you're planning a beta to test?
This is all such a tease! I am fighting with the decision of iphone or Android, I really want android... can i wait?
