I visited Sharp Corporation several years near Kyoto where they manufacture HD screens. I haven't kept up with their production statistics, but at the time for every 100 screens they made, only 1 was good enough to market. Today, it probably improved on quality and manufacturing processes but based on the price of this 108" screen tells me that they still have a problem but to a lesser degree. Larger the screen, the more difficult it is to get a passable product out the door.
