Sony unveils superabundance of projectors at InfoComm
Whoa there Sony, try not to get too excited all at once, okay? Over in Vegas today, said outfit has unleashed a veritable smorgasbord of projectors on the world, primarily ones aimed at businesses and large venues. Each of the VPL-EX50, VPL-EX5 and VPL-EW5 beamers include the company's BrightEra technology and should go well in classrooms, while the XGA VPL-FX41 comes in with 5,000 lumens to light up even the largest rooms. Moving on, we've got the WXGA+ (1,366 x 800) VPL-FW300 and the VPL-FH300 (pictured), which offers an even nicer 2,048 x 1,080 resolution. 'Tis a shame that last one is stickered at $40,000. Hit the read link for more details (pricing included) on the whole lot.

Not the best design they made but HEY! it's Sony and it's 40 k $ ???
Sony: Our Digital Turtle™ is light-years ahead of the competition.
It's sony,
where cheap models are horrible,
but expensive ones are excellent.
Just take a look at their Bravias
S is horrible
but X is virtually the best
I think it took Sony months - if not years - to develop these, so it is extremely improbable that *they* got excited all at once.
WARNING DO NOT USE LINK BAD LINK JUST GO TO THE SITE AND SCROLL THE PAGE DOWN!!!!!!!
did they say 40k for a device i can get at Best Buy for 2k.
That's a pretty dumb statement you've thrown out there. It's 40k for a reason, I guarantee you.
its probably 20 times better than the one at best buy too
you get what you pay for. Its price pointed towards large venues anyways, some of sanyo's projectors are up in the 30's and 40's, WXGA and 2048 x 1080? snap i'd be in if the lumens were doubled
Sony never overprices that much. If it costs a lot, they have a reason.
How much better would this be compared to a cheaper model.

. . .Er
Your $2k Bestbuy projector was designed for living room. The $40k projector is a large-venue business projector. It produces 7,000 lumens and is designed to fill auditoriums and large conference halls and can project a massive image at even moderate ambient light.
They forgot to cut the little slots to put the slides in.
No, you see the white part? That part comes off. Actual film obviously can do 2,048 x 1,080, right?
haha, nice one, made me laugh :D
I bet it doesnt come with an HDMI cable
OKAY!!! THANK YOU FOR THAT COMPLETELY UNRELATED LINK!!!!
HOLY SHIT! 40 LG!
that better have aeiou(and sometimes y)xga resolution
that is unreasonable
i would only ever pay that much (if i had that much to my name..) if it was an OLED projector
Hint, Hint.......
also how did they go from about 1.7:1 aspect on the first ones to almost 2:1 on the latest one?
are 1.7:1 and 2:1 even used- i thought it was only 1.78:1 and 2.35:1 that were used anymore
After havin peroused all the specs and the list of competing beamers I can tell you that frankly it is wildly overpriced.
Not as a percentage of the total cost maybe, but in absolute dollars yes it is.
Better beamers can be had in the 20 to 30 K dollars bracket from Lg , from Samsung and (same price but better specs) from Panasonic too.
SHIT! The Sony logo on the top in the white circle is SO HARD TO SEE!
What the hell Sony? You don't want people to see the logo?
I always found it funny that a majority of Sony products are very sleek, stylish, all around sexy (Laptops, TV's, PS3, PC's, Cameras/Camcorders, etc, etc)
But when it comes to their business products, they just dont care at all about the looks... I understand why, its for business's, but just kinda odd :/
HOLY SHIT! 40K!
that is unreasonable
*shudder* reminds me of a slide projector!
The perfect projector for the Death Star, err... "space station" that you're constructing. Sure to score a few points with the suits when they show up to check on your progress.
I saw this thing up close at the show on yesterday and it was impressive just sitting there on the display not even turned on. SonyStyle indeed!
PS: They have another model that's "only" $27K, but I didn't compare the specs....
