Yes friends, LapWorks' Gamers Desk essentially eliminates the need to get up and move over to the family PC where a mouse / keyboard combo can guide you to victory in yet another deathmatch. This lapboard (no, not that Lapboard) keeps a keyboard and mouse within reach of couch-based gamers, enabling them to fire up WoW on their HTPC and still maintain the edge afforded to them by using the aforementioned KB / critter tandem. The unit itself measures 11-inches wide by 26.75-inches across, is made from ABS plastic and includes non-skid rubber pads on the underside to keep it from slipping around in that pile of Doritos. It's available now in gun-metal gray for $39.95, but a few more hues should be ready to roll later this year for those patient enough to wait around.

Why is this any dorkier than say, playing a console that hooks up to your TV?

Being able to play on my 61" TV might be enough to get me back into PC gaming.

Though, the mouse looks almost as large as the built-in mousepad section in the pic...

This won't work because you need to have the keyboard in the one place constantly without movement, if it moves then it'll make it difficult to touch type. Also why would you be using the computer on the couch? Monitors are usually sized for desks and the amount of people connecting their computer to their TV is somewhat small.

I can vouch for this product. Personally I chose it over the phantom because the phantom simply because it fits with my keyboard of choice.

Also, it has 6" more width than the Targus model. I would still like it to be wider but it does actually do the job.

I dropped the cash on this to get away from having the keyboard on my lap and a couple of dictionaries to my right for a mousepad. It is preferable to the coffee table situation where you are leaning over the entire time. It's not perfect, but it works.
