D-Link introduces DIR-628 sub-$100 5GHz-capable 802.11n router
If you haven't made the leap to 802.11n (or, even better, 5GHz 802.11n), you might want to start holding on to that loose change -- you'll probably have enough by the end of the week to pick up D-Link's new DIR-628 router, which has an official MSRP of $119, but will sell at Best Buy for just $79. The dual-band router obviously isn't the most feature-packed unit out there, but in terms of straight connectivity, it'll get the job done as long as the firmware is reasonably stable -- and to be honest, that's all we really want a router to do. Should be out now -- we're telling you, 5GHz is freaking amazing.[Via SmallNetBuilder]

@Rob:
I concur whole-heartedly, sir.
It was a joke. Who'd buy high grade cable for digital transmission?
Amazon have mispriced it and have yet to correct it.
I'll stick to my day job.
only me laptop is wireless, but the main comps are all wired. and the ps3 can suffice on wireless. So i think i will keep my current linksys router.
I will only buy routers where I can put DD-WRT (or variants) from this point forward. Nothing else can compare in the price range with the features you get.
I have actually been looking at the custom routers boards that they sell on the DD-WRT site with the better antennas.
The linksys wrt600n has been pretty good with dd-wrt. i would look into it.
What chipset does this thing use? If it's something other than those crappy Broadcom chipsets I'll try it.
If you already have a router (which I bet you do) and want a gigabit switch and wireless N, there's also this sub-$100 option:

I've had pretty bad luck with netgear gear. I'm getting a d-link this time. They have so much more configuration option than the netgear stuff. Every change you make requires a reboot. What a pain in the ass. It's gotta have some gigabit ports though...I need that for streaming to ps3.
@PeterF
Let me get this straight........Whenever you have a internet connection problem, you just reboot the router first thing? So we are clear, you figure out it is router re-boot issue in the first 10 seconds and then you run to the router and unplug it, then re-plug it and go back to your computer and everything is fine? All within 1 minute??? Poppycock! Do you live in a 2x2 shed? Do yourself a favor and buy an Apple N router and spend the countless 1 minute delays that you claim you "only spend" and build an addition onto your domicile! Better yet, I will mail you my worthless airplus xtreme g dwl-g650 FOR FREE as long as you promise to use only it for 90 days without bitching about it a single time! IMPOSSIBLE
May have to exchange the Linksys n router that I bought a few weeks ago. Every time the 2.4GHz phone rings I lost wireless. This 5GHz option would fix that problem.
Try to say the title two times fast, I dare you.
This router doesn't have a gigabit switch what good is it. Ill stick to getting the wrt600n which uses both frequencies ,has a gigabit switch and can use dd-wrt (which they just figured out that switch problem with the firmware).
Ive had nothing but problems with a Linksys and Netgear 54g setup at home. Not sure if I have too many devices (3 desktops, 2 laptops, ps3, iphone) or if something in my or a neighbors apartment is messing it up but for less than $100 Id be willing to try this. Will definatly be looking for reviews.
BTW With problems, I mean I reset the router at least once a day, usually 2 or 3 times.
I doubt if it's the # of devices. At my place I have connected:
Wii
2 MBPs
1 iPhone
PSP
2 Desktops
Everythings golden for me, though I rarely use them all at the same time (but 3/4 at a time certainly isn't out of the question)
There is no router!
Dammit... am I the only one using a $5 (AR) D-Link router now?
Seems like a good deal, but I just won't buy D-Link for simply pulling all support out of a card I spend $50 on. $#@!ing d-link dwl-520M.
no drivers, no 64-bit, no nothing...
