EFiX OS X-installing USB device now available?
Well, today's the day that the EFiX folks promised their magical OS X-installing USB device would be available to the general PC-going public and, judging from the company's website at least, it seems like it's no more readily available than it was yesterday. The company has at least put up a product page for the desktop version of the device (pictured at right), however, as well as some non-working links for promised laptop and PCI versions of the device -- not to mention an intriguing (also non-working) link for "complete systems." They've also helpfully provided a list of compatible hardware, which looks to be extensive enough (assuming it all is, in fact, compatible). Feel free to post in comments if you've actually managed to get an order in one way or another, and we'll be sure to let you know if we hear anything more.[Thanks, Scientist]

compare let's say the specifications of an xps to a macbook of same price, you would understand that the kia in this comparison is not the xps.
an xps or something similar with mac os would be nice for the price of the xps
Please stop spreading these lies. I don't even own a mac, I run linux...
But seriously, the XPS is the kia, dipshit. You can go to the dell website and configure them to have the same exact specs as an 1,100 macbook, with the SAME integrated graphics, a lack of wireless-n, a lack of optical audio out, and it comes with VISTA for christ's sake.. (so add $$ for the downgrade to xp, or install linux)
..and the dell ends up being several hundred dollars more expensive, not including any software at all.
Down, fanboy.
it seems there site is down? did we kill it? they running and hiding? or are they updating? what do you think. (down on my end any ways)
I think you broke the Internet
um erm... uh oh, not again
Unless this automatically installs the latest drivers for everything once during installation I think I'm gonna pass. But I'm a lot more likely to try this than to buy from Psystar.
Tell me about it
Looks good, not sure how it works but i would like to see a complete hardware list. I currently have a hackintosh with a p5k-e asus mobo, and ati xt1950 pci graphics card. It works very well for the most part, its my main os. I am intrested in this for the direct apple updates, i have no idea how this thing will work, but its intresting.
What you really NEED is to work on your hand-eye coordination, as you have clearly missed the reply button.
Site was up and running fine this afternoon around 1pm when I checked it. Now its just painfully slow but still loading. Been trying to get in touch with them. No luck yet. Wouldn't mind trying it out.
I'm sorry, but I'm still confused. This is taken directly from the OSX86 Wiki:
Legal
Is it legal to download the Developer Kit Installation DVD?
Simple answer: no. It is not legal to download it, as the only possible use of the developer kit DVD is to circumvent its copyright protections to enable its use on a non developer machine. Remember that OSx86Project, it's owners and contributors do not condone illegal activity and will not provide information on how to obtain a download of this or any other copyrighted work.
Is this site illegal under the DMCA?
According to Wikipedia, "The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a controversial United States copyright law. The act criminalizes production and dissemination of technology that can circumvent measures taken to protect copyright, not merely infringement of copyright itself, and heightens the penalties for copyright infringement on the Internet."
Our site is fully compliant with the DMCA. This site intends only to provide a forum for those interested in running OS X on Intel hardware. Anyone engaged in an active DMCA violation will be banned. For more information, review our Disclaimer here.
If you are either a lawyer or an Apple representative and have any concerns, feel free to contact us regarding any changes you feel necessary.
But aren't you trying to "circumvent measures taken to protect copyright?"
Absolutely not. This site simply hosts information about the TPM. We do not sanction the use of this information for anything other than educational purposes. Our intent is to learn more about the TPM - not "crack" it.

I've been wanting a mac for years but every time I think about a new computer I end up building one cause after overclocking the price/performance ratio is not even close. And then every time I think about OSX86 I get get turned off cause driver issues would end up negating all the nice 'n' easiness of OSX to begin with. Anybody else in this boat with me? I'm really rooting for Efix to completely fucking rock, even though I'm %99 sure it won't.
I want one!!
e-fix in action sort of... its hard to understand him im assuming hes Russian but check it out for yourself. http://youtube.com/watch?v=JtEv9pLHGe8
Yeah, I hear USB drives is a good way to spread malware.
Methinks that this may=Duke Nukem Forever....Iiii mean Vapourware DA-DA-DUN!!!
only people who have owned both windows pcs and macs should be allowed to participate in the mac vs windows debate. sick of bias.
OK, I love one piece of Apple software. Its called Boot Camp, it turns my wife's overprice, but stylish to somebody, white desk weight into a machine capable of doing more then drawing pretty pictures. The only problem is now my wife wants her stand alone Windows box back. Something about having to keep restarting the iMac to switch back over to Windows XP to do anything productive.
When I read the title I though someone had created a piece of hardware that can be installed on OS-X

That website with the PC-Version remindes me somehow to the ASUS product pages looks identically to be honest. Any thoughts on this?
Imagine running OSX on an Omen or Blackbird 002. Honestly, never thought I'd imagine that again but it does intrigue me.
I found the efixusb dongle for sale at efixusb.com
Yeah I found the EFIX usb to install mac on my pc on http://www.efixusb.com

You windows idiots. a majority of you know nothing of and about macs. u may have used one in a shop for 5 mins or so but you still have no idea wtf you are on about. Mac has plenty of games. Eve, doom3, Call of Duty etc,... shit mine even plays GTA 3, VC and SA. i can run my windows games in mac and virtually run windows in VMware better than windows can run itself.
Unix is a far superior system to windows by leagues. the whole internet is virtually Linux and Unix based server systems (this includes Mac).
the only good os MS ever made was dos 6.22
enjoy your blue screens.
