Man's Wii Fit experiment comes to an end, 15 pounds shed

As you may recall, Mickey DeLorenzo rose to some degree of internet stardom a little over a year ago by dropping a whopping nine pounds using Wii Sports as his sole exercise routine and, after packing on a few pounds, he decided to give it another go using Nintendo's latest weight-shedding wonder: Wii Fit. Unlike a certain other would-be success story, DeLorenzo actually managed to complete his experiment, and the results are fairly impressive. After 45 days, he managed to shed a full 15 pounds, or about 2.56 pounds a week, and he dropped his body fat % from 20.8% to 18.4%. Of course, DeLorenzo admits that doing anything involving movement an extra 60 minutes a day will result in some weight loss, but he seems pretty sold on the benefits of Wii Fit, saying that it made it "especially easy" to work the training into his daily life.

They were only "unstoppable monarchs" for people who grew up on Nintendo consoles. I haven't played any Nintendo game that's anywhere close what PC, Atari, Commodore and Spectrum offered during their peak years (never mind the PS2). It's only the generation Y that thinks Nintendo was the best. Unfortunately for us X-ers, you Y-ers are out in larger numbers...
My Wii was powered off since January until two weeks ago... and it was to play Eternal Darkness (a GC game).
WTF!!! I didn't know the Wii Fit can get you buff?????
His body fat changed by 2.4 %. So 2.4 % of his origanal weight is is about 4.5 pounds which means the rest of his weight lose was muscle mass.
Almost, but not quite.
His original BF was 20.8% so he had 39.728 pounds of fat. After his BF was 18.4% so he had 32.384 pounds of fat.
He lost 7.344 pounds of fat. That means over half of his weight lost was muscle.
People need to learn that weight loss needs to be done properly, and slower. The best way to lose weight is on a pound a week plan by eating a deficit of 500 calories a day. Any higher deficit is likely to increase your muscle loss.
Or some water weight which is also likely.
Calculating body fat isn't always the most exact science, there are variables such as water weight and build that it can not account for.
I'm sure he did lose some muscle though, because if you read the article, he was doing this on a two week RV trip, so the hour of wii fit was probably the only movement he was really doing.
Interesting...
He managed to improve focus on both his camera and his eyes. Amazing.
ripped on tears? ripped ear drums from all the scremo music? or are you referring to the ripped u[ skin on your wrist from all those razor blades?
wow..... ultra-leeett!
It's a good job he isn't black, mate. Maybe you should think about these type of things before you post, unless you're an idiot, in which case, don't bother.
Look how hard you keep trying! Neat. Someday someone will chuckle... but today is not that day.
Stop embarrassing yourself.
I don't think they are the same guy, too may indifferences, and the tatoo is all blurred on one side, and he's ? Taller?
Not buying the photo anyway, but I'm sure the Wii FIT does help you frop a few lbs.
Faslane
It's easy to lose weight. All you gotta do is "eat less, and move more".

I see through your lie, buddy. If you put that armband and shades back on, you'd be right back up to 191 pounds!
the guy on the right stole George Costanza's wristband!
I love the Wii Fit. I have one and use it 5 times a week. I love that it tracks my exercise and weight. Yes, you could go to the gym, cut down calories, etc, but that is hard for two full time working parents of a small child. We really don't have time to go to a gym (nor do we have the money to pay for one) and it would be difficult for us to go walking in the park together with our one year old in 90 degree really humid weather. The Wii fit is perfect for us. Our son goes to bed at 7:30pm and we pull out the Wii fit board and exercise. It has really helped me lose some weight and helped my husband (who is recovering from the long term affects of chemo) build muscles he lost with his drastic post surgery and during chemo weight loss.
My wife and I have been using the Wii Fit for 26 days now. For the most part, we have exercised for 20 to 45 minutes per day ( in the morning on an empty stomach ). As far as the results go so far, I have lost 5 pounds and my wife has lost 3. That is not particularly impressive, I know, but what I just want to point out is how nice the stat tracking feature is on this software. The game creates a line chart to display your individual body weight over time as well as your body mass index, and I have noticed certain trends in my weight fluctuations. During the workweek, the line will drop, then spike some for the weekend, then it will drop again ( a few pounds lower than the previous week's low), spike again for the weekend, etc. This has made me much more conscious of what I am eating during the weekends. Also, we find the games really fun and it is very convienient to simply wake up, walk to the living room, cut on the Wii , and start exercising. On a more personal note, my wife is a very heavy woman, and my previous attempts to get her motivated to coming with me to the gym were pretty fruitless. I haven't even had to try since we got the Wii Fit, as she is up now every morning before me either running or hula hooping ( that one takes a lot of energy! ) or boxing, and it makes me smile to see her really enjoying herself. I just happened to stumble across this on a google search, and wanted to pass along my experience with the Wii Fit.
Everyone is saying it is fun and gets you off of your a$$. I agree. There is however something I use that works much better, I call it a ball !! (foot-, basket-, soccer-, base-, tennis-) ......... and its cheaper too!!
How is it that people can come into these boards, attempting to sound like they have any form of intelligence when it comes to the subject at hand, only to misspell every other word and jump from one thought to another without finishing any of them?
All I know is We have so much fun with our Wii Fit and Wii Sports. It is way too flippin hot here to exercise durnig the day especially outside. We just turn on the air and the Wii and bam everyone is off their butts and working out. Sorry all you losers who don't own one have to be so critical of those of us who do. We don't have to waste Gas going to the Gym and the whole family is together you simply cannot just sit there and watch some one work out you want to join in. God Bless the person who came up with this. It is well worth the money.
What a crock
wii fit i loset 10 lbs
wii fit i wont to lose 10 moer lbs . in 10 days
on the fit
runn ing boxing . steping
im losesing my big fat but on the wii ftite
ok... yes wii fit is good. But the way I see it you can just use wii fit. I eat healthy and I walk 3 miles a day. My wii fit is EXTRA exercise. Its a cheaper alternative to the gym. I enjoy it but would not use it as my only form of exercise.
Great to see that picture. I too was really fat before I worked out with this weight loss program. This is an extraordinary program where we can shed a lot of pounds with ease and quickly friend.
I Dont Always Wanna Go To The Gym So On My Lazy Days Its Great! Happy Hula Hoopin!!
The Wii Fit is a fun product. It is an excellent catalyst to get someone into working out and doing more. Yes, there are lots of other things you can do such as walk but they lack the other features Wii Fit provides. The Wii Fit will track your progress with pretty graphs and charts. It provides several activities and gives positive and encouraging feedback.
Is the Wii Fit the end all, be all work out system. Absolutely not but it is a start. For example. My Aunt has not worked out in probably 20 years. We got her a Wii Fit and she uses it everyday. By doing this she is doing more than watching TV or sleeping in. In addition, she is creating routine and habit and as she feels more confident with herself there is a good chance that she might start walking with her husband each morning.
I disagree that that the Wii Fit is gimmick product. There is potential. I am excited to see what a Wii Fit 2 will bring.
I think the wii fit is a good weight loss program. The Wii Fit makes losing the extra weight fun if you can get into some sort of routine. I came across this website www.wiifitroutine.com it has a couple hundred routines already created as well as this routine generator program that allows you to create custom routines. Wii Fit Routine seems to be a good environment for people serious about losing weight with their Wii Fit
