Oversized keyboard cranks up the font size on keys
If you're the type who just can't view a website without slamming the Control key and flinging that scroll wheel down (or up, we suppose) in order to gigantify the on-screen text, this here keyboard has your name written all over it. Offered up at Taylor Gifts, this unit actually doesn't seem much / any larger than your average KB, but each key sports a relatively prominent letter that aims to make typing much easier for the visually impaired. You can order yours now for $19.98.

That would make me feel like my keyboard was yelling at me all day.
If the Price is Right had a game involving a computer keyboard, this is what it would look like.
mkight have to invesrt in one of thse
I think we're seeing a trend for bigger things. Here's a big remote control: http://www.greatbigstuff.com/remotecontrol.html
I bought the big remote and the calculator for my dad as a joke and he really uses it and likes them both.
The remote always loses programming for some reason but when it works he loves it because of his poor vision.
Can I just say for my blue-haired parents this keyboard will work GREAT!
I think cuz our parents are more tech aware there will be a market for stuff that can help them stay connected.
I'm picking up 2 of these both for my mom and dad.
Blue hair? Are you from the Simpsons?
i've seen that remote but havn't got round to buying it.
you should check out phones for the partially sighted , i got one as a temporary thing but couldnt replace it because my mum wouldn't let me.
clever idea.. strange it hasn't been thought of until now.
Thesde have been around FOREVER... I still have one or two floating around where I work that are at least 5 years old, and they had them in the computer lab when I was in like, elementary school.
Same here, I have several keyboards from my Mum's dabbling in computing in the 90s.
yeah, but will it make a phone call?
There's still no ANY key!
So big they had to put it on the bottom.
if you take a basic typing class you won't need an oversize character keyboard.
Have you seen those oversized remotes at Linens 'N Things? They buttons are like 2 inches square. They should have made the keyboard like that, haha. That'd be like a 1 foot by 3 foot keyboard. No, but seriously, would be kinda cool (as a novelty item) to have a keyboard that you could type with your feet on (kinda like those pianos that you jump from key to key).
Ok, is my Engadget broke? I keep having to post things twice to get them to post...???
Jitterbug!! Do-doo-doo-doo-dee-doo. Jitterbug!! Do-doo-doo-doo-dee-doo. JITTERBUG!!! lol
You have problems...
You have problems....
You have problems...
Dang! Engadget is broken. Sometimes, the comments just don't show, then mine don't show up and all of a sudden they come back
Which is why I'm thankful for the F5 key.
If it doesn't show up, start mashing it. For up to 5 minutes. Until it shows up.
If it still doesn't show up, well, maybe you could get away with a second try.
Because Engadget's comment system hates everybody.
This would be quite helpful to me. My Microsoft Laptop 6000 Laser mouse has saved my life! The magnify button is so easy to use and it's become a sub concious movement I do whenever I'm reading anything.
I need bigger keys too, so I can use my fists to type
The Holy of Crap. Those are some big-ass son-of-a-bitch letters!
Currently out of stock, but search for "oversized" on their site and another link comes up for what seems to be the same keyboard.. just ordered one for grandma, done and done!
I suppose this is easier than learning how to touch type.
Are teh fonts big or the keys itself bigger? I can't seem to tell the difference other than the fonts are bigger. I know people with fat fingers would appreciate if the keys were a little bigger so they don't press two keys at once.
Seriously? Dude, I got some big 'ol sausage fingers, and I almost never press two keys at once.
They have keyboards like this in my local libraries, they're loud and hard to type on.
Ever considering buying GLASSES?????????
Can somebody tell me, WHY is the SPACE key so big? Are we all idiots? dont' we all need to redesign this pc keyboard thing, googlesoft??? :]
and if the space key was the size of any other key your comment would be something like this:
"Can somebody tell me, WHY is the SPACE key so small?.....
{no one else cares about the rest so i left it out.}
ifitwasntthatbig,thisiswhatwouldhappen
I see what you saying DB, XGM, but "space" key could be easily made at least 1/2 smaller ..... its easily reached by d thumbz. so no. www.geek.nexo.com
1. I would think that the vision impaired would be great touch typists
or
2. they use voice recognition
Keyboards DO need to be redesigned. They should recognize where I put my fingers and adjust accordingly.
No more worrying about the home row or feeling for the pimples on the f and j keys!
And can we get rid of the shift 2 for @? Who uses this key ` ? replace it with @.
hmmmmmmmmm?
