Actually, the Wii is really nice to play old games on. Having them all on there with a wireless controller (let's ignore the plug in aspect of the classic controller) is nice and all, but being able to play games over component versus composite makes a big difference.
I busted out my SNES the other day for nostalgia and let me tell you, that lone yellow cable just did not help. Component cables on the Wii (and no need for battery back ups, which were also surprisingly still good) actually are really nice touches.
I always used to get my Nintendo consoles modified to output RGBcvS (Red, Green, Blue, composite video Sync) via scart for crisp graphics; even the US models I imported to the UK.
So have alway had "component" video of sorts on my Nintendo consoles, but the RGB kind rather than YPbPr one.

It is ridiculously easy to play homebrew *cough*pirated*cough* games on the Wii.
you do know, that it is impossible to play wii games with the homebrew channel, do you?
I thought you needed a mod chip to play backed-up discs...
Duh. The Homebrew Channel is a launcher to launch Homebrew apps (some which are to LOAD pirated Virtual Console/WiiWare games).
seriuosly pirated games work?
Gee I sure glad I got me this 250$ machine to play 15 year old games on..
