Actually, the Wii is really nice to play old games on. Having them all on there with a wireless controller (let's ignore the plug in aspect of the classic controller) is nice and all, but being able to play games over component versus composite makes a big difference.
I busted out my SNES the other day for nostalgia and let me tell you, that lone yellow cable just did not help. Component cables on the Wii (and no need for battery back ups, which were also surprisingly still good) actually are really nice touches.
