iPhone anti-interference shield puts an end to buzzing speakers

As anyone with an iPhone and some unshielded speakers is likely well aware, the two don't exactly get along all that well together when they're in close proximity, with the fight for your desk's air space often resulting in an annoying buzzing sound. Now, one enterprising individual has thankfully come up with a solution in the form of the iPhone anti-interference shield, which consists of nothing more than a carefully cut Red Bull can and some always-handy double stick tape. The shield's creator does warn that there could possibly be some hindrance to your reception, however, although that apparently hasn't been noticeable so far. Of course, the shield would no doubt be just as effective with another 2G GSM phone, and you can probably find a suitable substitute for the Red Bull can if its not to your taste either.

Red bull gives your iPhone wings !
Makes me wonder what that iPhone does to your brain...
It turns you into a super genius, but unfortunately also causes rapid mood swings.
I think Nextels IDEN is the worst
lol. kudos to the lazy engadget editor who thought this merits a front page article. :P
Seriously though, How did a guy rapping a cut up red bull can around his iphone get on the front page? And you wonder why you are losing hits from real techs?
Oh, I didn't realize he was rapping... THAT makes it all OK, or would if I was a gangsta...
For those of you digging on the aspartame issue, you'd get laughed it in academics. Newer papers have come out that show the Ramazzini study was flawed, as well as show evidence that aspartame has no connection with neoplasms. Instead of google, try the Cochrane Collaboration or PubMed.
I don't know about you, but I'd prefer to be on the safe and avoid the diet drinks. Of course, that's easy when you don't drink soft drinks or "energy drinks" (which really means, "caffeinated happy hyper-juice" or something like that), which I don't.
Woops. I meant "safe side."
On the safe? The idiom is "wagon", not "safe"...
:p
studies are always flawed when there's millions of misguided souls ready to buy anything to help them lose weight...and an industry that wants to keep them doing that.
i just tried this with a soda can, and i can assure you all it does not work.
People who use blackberrys should use a green tea can.......cuz there old and iphone are for the......not old, BLACKBERRYS SUK!
OMG!!! IT's teh newsest spys shot of ze Iphone 3Gs!!!1!!111!
Done with the iPhone news... It's old.
Does it give the Iphone wings?
I love how you ever so subtly dropped the fact that you have a girlfriend into your comment.
Oh, and yea, real men use their first names as their usernames.
Sorry, meant to reply to Brad's comment.
Red Bull DOES NOT give you wings! Also it tastes like pee.
So R Kelly was really throwing Red Bull all over that girl?
@Chris
How come you know the taste of pee?
ummm....don't all cell phones cause this kind of interference, and not just iPhones? Cmon...this isn't even news. I am very disappointed in Engadget
The 3G Iphone should solve this problem, where 3G available, if you dont want to mess with a can you can also user the static free plastic bags. If u ever bought a hardrive or a ram, yup that plastic bag is the one.
This is a hoax. We exposed it here: http://www.ifonenation.com/2008/06/26/soda-can-iphone-radio-interference-shield-busted-as-a-hoax/
None of the solutions that we tried significantly reduced the RFI.
Sorry Guys (and Gals),
GenghisPhlip
It's a hoax! Seriously! A buddy of mine and I shot and edited a video proving this. Just buy a set of shielded speakers.
OK, here comes the shameless self promotion of his site complete with the video link: http://www.ifonenation.com/2008/06/26/soda-can-iphone-radio-interference-shield-busted-as-a-hoax/
It is his site, not trying to spam for spamming sake, just showing what we came up with.
genghisphlip! You beat me!
or if your not too handy with the sissors and don't like Red Bull you could just get the QB-EM shield. I got one at www.quickbridgesolutions.com and it got rid of the noise in my computer speakers, my car radio, and even my phone system at work.
