I Just bought the 47" xvt and had the same problem. I simply turned the smooth motion effect to "high" somewhat better but what fixed my problem with the pixel catchup problem was turning off the "real cinema mode". No more pixel catchup on fast camera pans.

Costco has them for the best price I've found but they were out of stock and Circuit City Price Matched at a $500 difference. You do get the 2 year warranty through Costco though.
