Ah, so sorry fakers. Don't you hate it when all your Photoshopping efforts come undone after the original D300 picture turns up? Oh well, D700 dreamers still have the alleged specs and hopes of a possible Monday announcement.

It took the original photo for you guys to notice it was fake? Look how perfectly regular... photoshop filter-like ...the 700 is. Please.

i could have told you that it was fake immediately based solely on the uniform "add noise" filter that was obviously applied....

why do people waste their time making these fakes? What's in it for them?

gets people to their websites.... then engadget, gizmodo, etc links to them and TADA!... more hits on their site!

the hits on the site don't really account for much... (at least not as far as adsense is concerned)
it's a little more like the mentality of the person who starts a rumor or creates a chainmail letter... just a sort of "lets see how far this gets" kind of thing.
maybe also a "lets show that people are excited about this in hopes that the manufacturer sees people talking about it and then makes it."

Engadget, you should know by now that crap like this isn't news to begin with. There are way too many people out there with Photoshop skills.

Umm... They both look like pretty standard cameras to me. I don't see anything on one or the other to make me recognize major differences.
I'm not a camera geek, though.
LOL! I'm just happy with my D300 for now. I'll get a full frame in a year or two.
