Video: Darth Vader and R2D2 hubs fulfill your dork destiny
Put down that Lego nerd, it's time to give your (only?) other interest a poke. Meet the $68 animatronic Darth Vader and R2D2 USB hubs. Just stuff a USB Princess Leia into Darth's neck and watch the dark lord's eyes glow red as he scans side-to-side for the pretentious scowls of your contemptuous co-workers. Sounds effects? Oh you betcha, listen in after the break.

Pros:
- dorkiness
- star wars
Cons:
- usb ports on front
- no leia (srsly ... what nerd doesn't want to cram their stick in her behind)
- too expensive and "crapmanship" sucks
- no bobafet with self decapitation when removing a device
HAI 2 U @ Jun 27th 2008 10:34AM
wtf it cut off my last con ...
- no chewie with gargle sounds when connecting and disconnecting devices
Nate DiDonato @ Jun 27th 2008 6:21AM
I think my old 2 button Darth Vader ball-mouse from 10 years ago still works... I should get a ps/2 to USB adaptor and plug it into one of these.
Or... not.
rubbish.ending @ Jun 27th 2008 6:34AM
150g of pure rubbish. Look how USB sticks on Vader's neck doesn't line up properly with the holes in the casing. It looks like shit, it's made like shit, it's 50$ too expensive, anyone buying this has absolutely no friends and no girlfriend either.
aardvark sandwich @ Jun 27th 2008 7:34AM
Yeah, they clearly are not up to the Casanova levels you’ve attained.

Darthy needs some more sound effects, just the breathing is lame.
How about a "I liked that" when you shove a usb in his holes?
Cheers
Kurian @ Jun 27th 2008 8:46AM
After the breathing, he should sat "DO NOT WANT."
Eric @ Jun 27th 2008 8:11AM
Yea, but all the geeky gals (and some of the geeky guys) out there can use the R2 unit to play out their SW fantasy by saying "Help me Obi-Wan, you're our only hope." prior to inserting the flash drive.
slarity @ Jun 27th 2008 8:11AM
I'm not a star wars fan, honestly never seen the originals, ep1 and 2 were decent. I do think any star wars fan would think this is awesome tho.
I'd love to get me a Stewie or Brian one from family guy. =)
iptydafu @ Jun 27th 2008 8:15AM
Dang, who's butthole has that keyboard been hiding in?
Bizam! @ Jun 27th 2008 10:16AM
Seriously dude...clean your keyboard!!
ShadowKain @ Jun 27th 2008 8:23AM
Are you kidding you never dreamed of plugging something into R2D2? I R2 can charge my iphone and Mp3 player, hes my man, my man (no not a Denzel Washington take..or is it?).....
ShadowKain @ Jun 27th 2008 8:26AM
No we do not* want a giant bird from Harry Potter as a usb hub....
Asher69 @ Jun 27th 2008 9:18AM
Make it a C3P0 and giggle with geekish glee as it can't read files saved from a non-windows OS... "But I thought you were familiar in over 6 million forms of communication?"
Sad. I know. Need more coffee.
Vidit Bhargava @ Jun 27th 2008 10:07AM
why the fuck did they leave out C-3PO???
Neil @ Jun 27th 2008 10:12AM
Up until now I never felt like a nerd, but man I'd love me one of those R2D2 hubs!!!
Harrison66 @ Jun 27th 2008 5:06PM
Same here I want R2D2!! Geeks of the world UNITE !! LOL
kal326 @ Jun 27th 2008 10:23AM
Huh, unpowered hub combined with lights, sounds, and motion. I wonder how many mA it takes to make all of that happen? I would be hesitant to use anything that draws close to 500mA with that thing. Seems alright, but not very practical for usage.
Dan Davis @ Jun 27th 2008 10:38AM
I find your lack of faith in your device's battery disturbing.
Jason @ Jun 27th 2008 10:39AM
Darth Vader meets Terminator.... fail.
R2D2 FTW though.
Ethan @ Jun 27th 2008 10:39AM
Only if it's where R2D2 already has ports and when you can stream video to it to project in blue.
Jake @ Jun 27th 2008 11:43AM
Who in the hell is "Dark Vador"?
engrish?

smithsquared @ Jun 27th 2008 12:45PM
that r2d2 hub would cement my title as the king of all dorks at work, cant wait
Harrison66 @ Jun 27th 2008 5:04PM
Now if we had that Owl reading our Usb drives that would be crazy! LOL and the Chewbacca & Boba Fett one would rock. I'd want a Slave 1 ship with usb ports on the sides of the ship.
