We're not sure where our tipster got these pictures (nor are we going to ask), but they appear to be screens from the
Treo 800w's specification and knowledge training documentation. New tidbits include a 333 Mhz processor, 4.4.1 x 2.28 x 0.73-inch dimensions, 320 x 320 pixel screen, and a weight of 4.94 ounces. Windows Mobile 6.1 looks to be in full-force, the camera shoots at 2 MP, and the USB port is 2.0. As for other revealed features, you're looking at threaded SMS chat, but MMS is mysteriously missing in lieu of Sprint Picture Mail, a trend that continues to confuse us. If all this pans out, look for the 800w to be
available on July 13th for $249.99. Hit the continue link to see the rest of the juicy shots and details.
[Thanks, brian]
I am glad I jump shipped to WINDOWS MOBILE.
Palm OS sucks, If this thing where running Windows Mobile I would buy but screw palm.
Why Palm has not moved to a modern OS like Windows Mobile, there is a huge business oportunity.
Um, it is a win mob device...
it runs on Windows Mobile. see the pics carefully.
Well i want one, now that the Q9C is gone and that i cant get an Instinct with SERO. I thought about the Touch but i would prefer a keyboard. I'm a Mac guy now since 2006 and would love an iPhone but i'm not willing to pay $70+ a month for one. Also i dont want to pay $65 for a blackberry even though its sweet.
So guys there are cheap people out there like me who may need/prefer this phone. My A900 is is doing a slow death, it rings when it feels up to it.
Palm's ability to keep pace with itself is the very reason why it lost $43.3M in the most recent quarter report and has sales volume 25% BELOW that of 1 year ago.
As any athlete knows, you only improve by being trained by those better than yourself.
21 more MHz than my 4-year-old Treo 650. Look out iPhone!
Where's a GPS, Palm?
Its not standing up to Sprint, it's that Sprint's network is in capable of it. As applications like sMMS have shown, its possible to trick Picture Mail into working like MMS, but that's not even really SMS.
As for GPS, as far as I know even though it's not shown in these images, it's in there.
Looks like they took the best physical features from the Centro and 755p and threw them together. It's not at all bad looking... doesn't have the wow factor of the iphone or anything but I wouldn't be ashamed to tote it around.
I DO find it odd that after all this time they just gave the processor and camera such a tiny bump in quality, as it's been very long overdue.
Hey I got years back a "TX" still waiting for OS upgrade!!
I will discourage any one to buy Palm product, I will make my aim to do so, just because they (Palm Idiots) stop taking care of the customers that they have!!
Witch is not too many!!
“DON’T BUY IT”!!!!!!!!!!!
This Treo is so dead. Steamrolled over by the iPhone 3G on the way to world domination. So sad. Palm was the king of PDAs and now they're just also-rans. Only being used by a few loyal fans and those oblivious to the New World Order of the bitten fruit company.
It's ironic that the CEO of Palm had said that Apple couldn't possibly succeed in the handset business. Another one of those Michael Dell-isms where the CEO ends up eating is own foot.
Nice to see that all the ex-Apple talent hired by Palm at great cost to shareholders has resulted in a WinMo rehash of a 1997 vintage form factor. Well done.
Too bad, I liked my 700wx. I was kind of looking forward to this phone but now it looks like it's DOA. Touchpro here I come.
Wouldn't mind a 3g iphone if it came with a plan like Sero. The iphone just isn't worh the extra cost of the AT&T plans. WM ain't pretty but it gets the job done for me. I pretty much like my phone stripped of eye candy anyway.
At least it won't be a complete brick.
6.4 ounces ....... Treo 700wx
6.3 ounces ....... Treo 650
5.43 ounces ...... Treo 750
4.9 ounces ........ Treo 800
4.8 ounces ........ IPhone
4.7 ounces ........ Blackberry 8700
4.2 ounces ........ i780
4.2 ounces ........ Centro
3.9 ounces......... Blackberry Curve
This thing sure is fugly. At least the 850w looks a little better.
WOW Infrared Port...what year are we living in again?
...and whats with the screen not being flush.
WIFI on a TREO??!!?!!?!?!
YES!!!
You guys are all forgetting that this is a Business phone, as per Palm's new device hierarchy. It's not going to have the bell's and whistle's we're looking for, instead it'll be a viable business alternative to the Blackberry and HTC phones.
Wait for the Palm/linux OS due out later this year. That will make or break Palm. We will just have to see....
Grats on Palm finally moving to a USB port though instead of that old r-tard port. Wi-Fi is long overdue too.
@MrNick who said: "Wait for the Palm/linux OS due out later this year. That will make or break Palm. We will just have to see..."
The most repeated words Palm has been choking on for 2-3 years. Even their (never even close to accurate) forecast is calling for well into 2009 for those new models. What Palm is praying for is to survive long enough to limp those new products out to market, yet, once again, they will have been 1-2 years too far behind the curve for it to matter.
On this oval track of mobile technology, Palm is being lapped repeatedly while they continue to ride their tricycle. Just "waiting to see" is the philosophy of fools and idiots.
What a piece of crap.
And 3G iPhone lovers... perhaps you should consider waiting for the Garmin Nuvifone :-D
It looks pretty nice to me. The only down side is that it is Windows Mobile.
You know, everyone and their mother knows this is about to come out on Sprint. Why O' Why is it kept ULTRA secret by palm and Sprint (i.e. no mention of it on either company site) until the day it's released? I don't get it. Usually with most phones there is a build up ad campaign "blagh blagh phone, new on Sprint July 13th" etc. . . Why not Treo's? Why are they always so damn covert? WTF?
Can't wait until the 850 comes over to ATT so this phone can be done right. I love the fact that Sprint gets to be the guinea pig for Palm. The 700wx was massive fail. My WM6 Treo 750 thanks you for taking one for the team.
I can't stand another comparison between a Treo (PalmOS or WinMob) and an device without either a touch-screen or a full qwerty keyboard. They just aren't compatible. I'm excited for this handheld and will likely pick one up over many other options because I like having a touch-screen *and* a full qwerty keyboard.
Is it the sexiest device I've ever seen? Far from it. But the Treo line, stale as it may be, is, in my opinion, still the device to beat.
Flame away
Wake me up when Palm introduces something interesting......
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I have the 700wx and I'll never buy another Treo. The browser is horrible, all kinds of bluetooth problems, plus I have to reset it once a week.
Stop comparing everything to the iphone.
if att didnt lock the iphone for 5 years. verizon and sprints verizon of the iphone would kill att.
Att sucks.
way over priced plans and such.
At sprint i pay 15 a month for data wether i have high speed or 1x. at att they charge you based on speed. its a horrible company
