Guitar Hero: Aerosmith gets unboxed, rag-covered mic stand not found
Well, what do you know? That Guitar Hero axe that was spotted a few months back on How I Met Your Mother was actually a sneak peek of the six string that comes bundled with the new Activision title. The unwavering rockers over at FW Labs were able to secure a copy of the game in Chile before most everyone else on the planet, and rather than enjoying their fortune without telling a soul, they decided to snap a host of photos and even upload a few videos of the experience. The new toys in the attic are right there in the read link.

No rag-covered mic stand?
Hmmm... They must be saving that for Guitar Hero: World Tour: Aerosmith Edition!
What a mouthful... But not quite Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. Now THAT was a mouthful!
Marvin Quach @ Jun 29th 2008 5:16PM
I don't know about you, but once they released Rock Band, Guitar Hero games lack.... substance. (Then again, this is coming from a drummer, lol)
I don't even know why they release the guitars again and again. It'd be more cost effective (not to mention slightly more environmentally friendly) if they just released an update online or if people want an actual product, just the game and a face plate. Less packaging, more money for everybody, ya?
BuddyBoy @ Jun 29th 2008 6:30PM
They have released the game separately for those who already have the guitar.
Haikibutsu @ Jun 30th 2008 1:06AM
Lets add a Dance Pad to Rock Band!
No, seriously...
I know this is something thats just ready to get lowest rank in America, but:

Is that a fender telecaster bass on the box? I thought guitar hero was all about gibson and rockband about fenders
MED @ Jun 29th 2008 6:07PM
before everyone else? i saw this in the store today and could have bought it but found it wasnt worth it.
waterboy99troop @ Jun 29th 2008 7:20PM
i got the game today and i like it... as someone who finally has time to play the GH series of games more extensively, i have to say while almost everything is like the previous games, the setlist and the bonus videos are nice... actually, i bought this game just because of these two reasons...
giantenemycrab @ Jun 29th 2008 6:15PM
I couldn't be any less interested in this game.

meh, it doesn't take much effort to comment.. :/
Tom @ Jun 29th 2008 7:01PM
I've had this game for the past week... It is, well, pretty much horrible. Obviously they chose just all the 'best' Areosmith songs and called it a new game.. Even the menus look EXACTLY like GH3.
An online update would've been such a better idea, and then sold the guitar for the fanatics.
Gadget Chick @ Jun 29th 2008 7:04PM
is the xbox 360 rock band guitar compatible?
giantenemycrab @ Jun 29th 2008 10:11PM
nope, it's not.
Jack @ Jul 24th 2008 3:12PM
Yes it is. It is the exact same guitar, but with a faceplate.
Go to sites like scorehero.com if you don't believe me.
Alex Greenberg @ Jun 29th 2008 7:07PM
why is there A xbox 360 controler on top of a ps3 box?
dhytspam @ Jun 29th 2008 7:21PM
I bet your aces at Where's Waldo?
El Taco @ Jun 29th 2008 8:43PM
if you look in the background, they obviously got more than one, but good eye
Ignatius @ Jun 29th 2008 7:38PM
How many more Guitar Hero games are coming out this year? Jesus...
It's like, as soon as Activision got their hands on the series, sequel after sequel after sequel shot out. Rock Band 2 is on my list and I'm never going near another Guitar Hero game... GH3 was absolute crap.
Matt @ Jun 29th 2008 9:08PM
Agreed. Instead of releasing good downloadable content, like EA/Harmonix is doing with Rock Band and its absurdly good selection of DLC, they're just gonna keep raping us for 60 bucks a pop with these packs. I bought it today, because I really like Aerosmith, but they filled it out with lameass songs and I'm just not horribly interested in playing through them to get to the good Aero songs. The fact that the gap between medium and hard on GH3 is about as wide as the Grand Canyon doesn't help any either. I think I'll be sticking to Rock Band games from now on, at least they don't try to hump you into using ONLY their controllers.
ravez @ Jun 29th 2008 8:51PM
@MED:The date of the game release in Chile was june 26. You saw in the store de 29th. Probabily, before than everyone else.
Los Tacos @ Jun 29th 2008 8:52PM
guitar hero officially just became lame
John B @ Jun 29th 2008 9:06PM
I don't know about lame yet, but it's definitely become way, way, WAY too commercialized. I learned about a lot of great songs and groups, especially from Europe, from GH3 because of the non-focused method of the music that it delivered.
I fear for the series now that this "oh, let's focus on a particular band now" line has been crossed. What's next: "[ Rock Band | Guitar Hero ]: The [ EMI | Sony | Warner | Virgin | BMG | Whatever studio paid us a f**king boatload of cash ] Edition"???
John B @ Jun 29th 2008 9:02PM
I love the Wii and I think it's highly underrated, particularly by PS3 and XB360 fanboys who put w-a-y too much emphasis on the hardware instead of the game. But, no Wii DLC = no more rhythm game purchases.
dhytspam @ Jun 30th 2008 7:27AM
That is until Samba rolls in.
John B @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:00AM
Ew.... Gross...
iruka @ Jun 29th 2008 10:41PM
People forget that not everyone has access to downloadable content...
and it sucks...
I'm not buying that though.. I'll just be waiting for GH: World Tour while playing my On Tour and GH3... ^^
Nate DiDonato @ Jun 29th 2008 11:22PM
It'd be worth it if you could unlock Revolution X... or maybe some things (and games) are best left forgotten.
P.S. Guitar Freaks FTW
slammed @ Jun 30th 2008 4:34AM
played it before street date and among other things, this may be being a captain obvious moment, but all the guitar is is the gh3 les paul with an aerosmith faceplate. the game is liek rock the 80's; just an add on of songs to toss in between gh3 and gh4
LinuxIdiot @ Jun 30th 2008 8:21AM
I bought the game, was psyched until I actually played it. I started to fall asleep during some of the songs. I was also disappointed that Crazy and Janie's Got a Gun were not included :'(
Friend has a RockBand guitar and I think I am gonna search for one of these as that guitar seems leaps ahead in aesthetics and maybe pick up the RockBand game.
jc @ Jun 30th 2008 9:09AM
yawn......
ShadowKain @ Jun 30th 2008 10:21AM
Is this game even worth it? I heard mixed reviews of this. I knew it was a very bad idea to make a guitar hero game of ONE band. The guitar riffs of Joe Perry are nice, but can get repetative and boring as a guitar hero premis. Yes fun on real guitar, but as video game? Gets old after awhile. I think it will only really be a hit with Aerosmith fans.
Ben @ Jun 30th 2008 11:08AM
Got this game yesterday, was looking for a second guitar for GH3 but decided that since this game came with a guitar it would be worth it for the new songs. Honestly, not worth it. The songs are pretty uninspiring and dull. Also, I don't know whether it's because I'm in Canada or because I bought the PS2 version, but I didn't get a cool Aerosmith guitar or an Aerosmith faceplate with the game. Just the regular Gibson Kramer Striker wireless guitar. What's the deal with that?
jason @ Jun 30th 2008 11:44AM
Wow, I'm not sure that could look any uglier.
Love Wii @ Jul 5th 2008 7:35PM
I don't know what people are moaning and complaining about. I bought Rock Band for Wii and returned it after one week. It seems like an old product, the music doesn't sound as clear/good and the guitar sucks. I exchanged it for GH: Aerosmith and while it is really similar to GH: III it is MUCH BETTER than Rock Band. Can't wait for World Tour, but for now GH: Aerosmith will hold me over until then. I LOVE IT and I think the people who are complaining don't even own it, they are using their friend's and are bitter because they don't have it themselves. LOL.
Conclusion: GH AEROSMITH is WORTH the $50 bucks (without guitar), graphics are better, music sounds great and since wii users don't get DLC I'll take 41 new songs to hold me over until GH: Metallica, World Tour, and Van Halen.
