Hello? McFly 2015 Nikes to be resurrected as Nike Hyperdunks
Remember those cool Nike high-tops that Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future? The ones that laced themselves and you wished you had a pair just like them? If so, listen up: Nike is releasing the Marty McFly 2015's as the Nike Hyperdunks. They won't lace themselves, unfortunately, but will be made of Nike's super light-weight materials. They'll be shilled by Kobe Bryant in black, and we'll be surprised if the Back to the Future roots of these shoes will be shown the light in order to keep the cool young'ns interested, but we all know the truth behind these bitchin' kicks. Hoverboard sold separately.

Haha, super sweet! wanted to get a shoe custom made like this, but no more =P
E71 @ Jun 29th 2008 5:20PM
That's funny... I just re-watched the BTTF series... I haven't seen them in almost 10 years and then *poof* this article appears a day later.
Totally freaked out man.
Blackstar @ Jun 29th 2008 9:10PM
Now you just need the self-drying jacket. Oh, and don't forget to turn your pockets inside out. Everyone in the future wears them like that.

The black version is awesome as well and will cater to those who don't like the throw back look. I will be happy with either!

Mark Anderson @ Jun 29th 2008 10:32AM
It was acceptable in the 80's.
Markus @ Jun 29th 2008 11:15AM
It was acceptable at the time.

With the girls?
z0phi3l @ Jun 29th 2008 10:39AM
They were fugly back then, and are still fugly now
giuliop @ Jun 29th 2008 10:42AM
But they won't be in 2015.
Andrew @ Jun 29th 2008 1:29PM
At this point why not wait until 2015 to release them -
ZeroCorpse @ Jun 29th 2008 10:48AM
No power laces? Meh.
The only trainers that look any good are Skechers and Chucks.
whoiscraig @ Jun 29th 2008 5:41PM
Sketchers? Get the f outta here. You're liable to get smacked upside the head with that comment.

omg sign me up for a pair, where do i get the self fittting clothes too
Jason @ Jun 29th 2008 11:12AM
Why not spend the next six and a half years and get them right?!
I there's no power laces and lights, then it's just a cheep tourist-trap souvenir of a movie prop.
cmuska902 @ Jun 29th 2008 11:21AM
Exactly. And since I love Back to the Future part II like a fat kid loves cake, these "cheep tourist-trap souvenir of a movie prop" sneaks are like the greatest thing i could ever ask for. I will be buying these. Now I just wish I had that neat multi-color hat, and the awesome self fitting jacket. "Jacket drying. your jacket is now dry!"
Wireless Buddy @ Jun 29th 2008 11:15AM
Back To The Future is my favorite movie, and those Hyperdunks don't look anything like the ones in the movie...
Blade Genexis @ Jun 29th 2008 11:21AM
Aw, man. No hoverboard? But that was the best part! lol
-Blade Genexis
Martin Bormann @ Jun 29th 2008 1:25PM
Is your name Blade Genexis?
KilgoreTrout @ Jun 29th 2008 11:27AM
I may have liked them when I were watching the BTTF flicks but it's been a while since I started to wear only bespoke and handmade english shoes, after I 've made my butler wear them for a day or so to break them in.
L.Rawlins @ Jun 29th 2008 11:31AM
In other news, Mattel are to release a hot pink hoverboard... with wheels.
Matthew @ Jun 29th 2008 11:32AM
I want!!! Must buy these shoes! Damnit... When do they come out engadget?
fred @ Jun 29th 2008 12:17PM
Memo to Nike:
As a kid who saw the movie back then, let me be first to tell you the two reasons why we wanted these shoes.
1) They had Power Laces
2) The Nike Logo lit up
Thanks for the attempt, but get back to us in 2015 when you actually make them the right way.
KilgoreTrout @ Jun 29th 2008 1:01PM
@ Fred
Would you really wear a pair of shoes with the logo that lights up?
Jeez man
Would you also like them to play the Nike ad's tune as you go?
KilgoreTrout @ Jun 29th 2008 1:06PM
@Fred

tekdroid @ Jun 29th 2008 1:44PM
nowadays the Slavery logo lights up. The sole has "Child Labor" etched in it. Cool. I want them.
KlaDOS9 @ Jun 30th 2008 12:01AM
Power Laces? Light-up logo? With that stuff the shoes are likely to cost $250+ if power laces are even possible.
Anyway, I WANT SOME. Hopefully they'll be less than $100...
Now all we need is that rubber tube auto-fit jacket and a DeLorean (outfitted like in the movie) and we'll be ready for maximum geekness!
Joseph @ Jun 30th 2008 10:42AM
I have a feeling this shoe is going to be hacked for additional functionality. I can't wait for the Make article.
digitallysick @ Jun 29th 2008 12:32PM
they are missing the velco strap at the top, and they long tounges that stick out,w tf
Cody @ Jun 29th 2008 12:39PM
Aren't these basically just Huaraches in different colors?
Either way, sexy shoes.
phanbouy @ Jun 29th 2008 12:42PM
"Hey you... get your damn hands off her!"
that is all.
(01) @ Jun 29th 2008 1:41PM
How about the Airwalk boots from The Matrix? I could defiantly go for a pair of those....
kastonie @ Jun 29th 2008 7:46PM
dude the matrix was gay....it might have been cool when it first came out because you and your friends were all like WOAH this is awesome...but go back and watch the movies again...I cant believe I watched them when they came out...especially in the 3rd one when neo is talking to that huge ball...that was really gay..
(01) @ Jun 29th 2008 9:39PM
You're adding a lot of validity by continually using "gay." Nice during Gay Pride month. I agree that the 2nd and third weren't that great, but the first broke a lot of ground visually and cinematicly, as well as being a solidly good movie. Sorry you're too cool to enjoy it.
Michael @ Jun 29th 2008 1:45PM
These are not the same shoes, look at them. They only have a similar color scheme, but everything else is different.
Aside from the missing power laces and light up logo, these new shoes are missing the velcro strap, the back of these new ones angle down, the olds ones did not angle down they were straight across the back like a boot. Plus the front is a different color/shape. It's not one piece of all gray.
This is marketing hype, these are not even close to the same shoes seen in back to the future. Nike get on the ball, give us the exact same shoes that were in the movie.
Ridgecity @ Jun 29th 2008 1:54PM
Actually, we are 6 years from 2015 and the reality check is that Nike, has done nothing for shoes other than improve cheap labor and a better glue to paste these together and adding wifi for no purpose other than say their are still high tech. Nice job Nike, Guess the Back to The Future actually takes place in 2115 in Nike's view.
martin @ Jun 29th 2008 2:15PM
i am so getting a pair.
next stop (robot voice) "ur jacket is now dry"
and upside down pepsi's.
AC @ Jun 29th 2008 2:36PM
at least you can jump over a moving car with these...
Ace b @ Jun 29th 2008 2:58PM
Well I do believe I'm gonna get me a pair of these.
John B. @ Jun 29th 2008 3:03PM
The real Marty McFly shoes didn't actually have laces, they were just velcro straps that tightened to fit your ankle's circumference. Would that really be so hard to make?
TavisJohn @ Jun 29th 2008 4:17PM
Come on, this is the 21st Century! Can't we even have Power Laces as an option?
Atanas Boev @ Jun 29th 2008 5:20PM
"Welcome to the 21st century. No giant lasers, no hovercrafts. The future sux."
DJON @ Jun 29th 2008 5:48PM

I might have the perfect shoes to ride my pimped-out skateboards !!
