HCL's MiLeap handled in the wild, likened to V-Tech toy
HCL's MiLeap has long been forgotten amongst the swarm of other low-cost laptops to emerge post-CES, but a kind fellow over in Bahrain was able to handle one for a tick, snap a few photographs and dish out some early impressions. Essentially, this 7-inch netbook was more akin to a V-Tech toy than a bona fide computing instrument, and typing on the thing was apparently a very non-enjoyable experience. Still, those anxious to see what this critter looks like in the flesh can head on down to the read link, but don't even pretend that you're not going there with full intentions of pointing and laughing.

I was excited when I saw the numbers "199" in the picture, assuming that was the price of it in US dollars, and then I read the read link and realized that was Bahraini dollars, and cost over $530 USD...Shame. I could've dealt with the toyish-ness for $199.
199,900 of their dollars = 500 of ours gawd thats some awful exchange rate
Just descramble that guy's CC number and buy one for free!
does it have any HCl in it? (hydrochloric acid)
It's also sold in Turkey as Datron Mobee for $399.
You can see the specs over here:
http://www.datron.com.tr/datron/urundetay.php?malkodu=NB.DA-IL1-84VS
It has VIA chipset and a C7-M 1Ghz cpu, 1gig ram, 40GB 5400 drive, webcam, wireless etc...
Thats one hell of a bezel. I'd rather pay a little more to a larger screen.
lol i saw that thing a few days ago over here in Bahrain.
It was being sold in the Géant Hypermarket.
oh and the currency here is called Bahraini Dinars not Bahraini Dollars :P
but I have to say, the Eee PC was way cheaper and looks better than this piece of trash....
There's bezel and then there's "OMG nothing but bezel. Where's the screen?!"
For $199,900 I would expect A LOT more.
hey guys, wat the hell is wrong with u all !! first thing,HCL stands for "hindustan(read;India) computers limited",& not hydrochloric acid, now i see lots of nonsense comments like ,cheap laptop, hydrochloric acid etc,but let me remind you, this laptop is aimed at a low income class,& you should be able to appriciate this innovative product created with a class in mind, that our asus, sony & oqo's dont bother about(low income class for the uninitiated) & ,its as good as ur asus ieee, sony or oqo umpc's yet for a real good value proposition (read very reasonable price) !! & i am telling after using them all !
