Rock Band 2 gets official for this fall, new guitar revealed

While the original Rock Band is still going strong, Harmonix is already looking towards the next bit of kit that it hopes will be cluttering your place, with it now getting official with Rock Band 2 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This time around, it seems the Xbox 360 will be getting a jump on things with a launch in September, with the PS3 version set to follow "later in the year." Both of those will, naturally, be coming with all new instruments, including the tasty Fender Stratocaster pictured above, but you will be able to use your current gear if you want to spare the extra clutter and save a few bucks. What's more, you'll also be able to carry over all your current downloaded content and, as IGN reports, you'll even be able to download and play new tracks on Rock Band 1 once Rock Band 2 is out. Of course, Harmonix is saving most of the details for E3 next month, but you can find a few more tidbits in IGN's interview with Harmonix's Dan Teasdale available at the read link below.

besides, the original rock band had those buttons as well. For some reason I think the only point of your post was to say penis and shit in the same sentence. Wait, is that a Freudian slip on your part?
Holy moly, the Xbox gets a timed exclusive for Rock band 2? That really should be the headline here.
I think Rock Band 2 will beat the Guitar Hero series this time around. Last time GH was much cheaper and the average consumer went for GH. But now that they are going to be priced equally, and GH:WT having that "me too" feel, I think that Rock Band is going to attract a lot more of the "casual" gamer.
The guitar hero brand already has the casual market. No one bought rock band except the old school hard core gamers. Don't get me wrong, it still sold plenty, but it didn't hit the casual market as well as guitar hero did.
And harmonix doesn't have Activision's $$$
I hope RB2 is harder than V1. When you can breeze through all of the songs on Expert the first time through, the game just isn't hard enough.
GH3 seems to be about right for me. I can do all of the hard ones pretty much the first time through, but the Experts pose a bit of a challenge.
I also hope the new guitar for RB2 is better than the first version, cause it was AWFUL!!!!!!
ill second that, especially the screwed up guitar. that thing drove me crazy. have you looked up ways to fix it on youtube? theyre there...and they worked for me.
I think that World Tour video killed a lot of potential Guitar Hero customers. All the rock band-ers who stayed away from the video should be fine though, and Rock Band will come out victorious in the battle of the fake instrument games.
Meanwhile, I'll be spending my time learning how to play my .real. guitar, as many commenters have allready pointed out is a better use of your time.
SAME THING JUST DIFFERENT COLOR!!! Camon at least guitar hero changes there guitars... so you have a reason to buy the next one...
if harmonix is smart theyll improve the old guitar and tell the guys over in japan to make a decent strum bar... so its worth buying a new one.

Whilst I share all of your unbridled enthusiam, I am waiting for Orchestra Hero. 2 versions available.
Version 1. A full 240 piece orchestra, with complete woodwind, brass and string sections. Intial quantaties ship with Kettle Drums and Gong.
Version 2. A Baton
Both RB2 and GHWT are boasting bigger set lists than ever before. im looking foreward to the point when each game has 300 master tracks on it, somewhere around version 6.... pretty soon, its going to become a battle of who can grab better songs for their game, not just who has the better gameplay/ instruments.
We don't even have Rockband 1 in Australia yet!

That guitar looks like crap. The GHWT guitar looks much better.
Anyone who says "oh well I'm above you 'cause I play REAL guitar" can just fuck off. It is a game; a game played for having fun, not for picking up chicks or selling lots of albums. I played Guitar Hero a lot, as in A LOT, and now I play guitar (bass and six-string). I played Rock Band just as much, now I play drums. Howabout that? I also still enjoy both games, and plan on getting RB2.
Rockband 3 will come complete with blow-up groupies
My PS3 guitar does not look like this.....no sunburst just the ol' black and white. Works great but wish I would have been told no sunburst!!!
