Arrrgh! Anyone else hate his flappy hands?
Synthaxx @ Jul 1st 2008 10:08AM
Aye, it's as if he has to wind himself up or something.
Highly annoying.
sk8rpro @ Jul 1st 2008 1:28PM
Hey, don't speak bad about Leonard McCoyd!
SimbaDogg @ Jul 1st 2008 3:04PM
flappy hands such, but why does every single apple product have to be done by a guy that looks like a total douche. i mean, all black shirt w/ the wire frame glasses.
Live in 3D @ Jul 1st 2008 3:17PM
Ha ha. That bugged me so bad in the original iPhone vid that I had to cover the bottom half of the video to keep from getting distracted
Andy TGD @ Jul 1st 2008 3:51PM
Actually Synthaxx, I always presumed that it was the iPhone which was controlling him like a puppet.
haX0r @ Jul 1st 2008 4:20PM
Hey Jobs...if you are going to make us watch a long, boring video, at lease put a HOT Woman in there with TigOBitties!
Matt @ Jul 1st 2008 8:37PM
they guy looks kinda like oung version of steve lol
~~Tito~~ @ Jul 2nd 2008 5:21PM
LMAO!! I like the demo of a copy paste feature where someone dubbed him and animated a pic of him, at the end the person made him say "I love you". Hilarious!
Matt @ Jul 1st 2008 9:42AM
sweeet
saycheese @ Jul 1st 2008 9:43AM
Wonder-device! The Apple logo does all the wonders you'll ever need. w00t!!1!
P.S. forgot the customary "non-Apple devices suck!" comment.
"non-Apple devices suck!"
babloo80 @ Jul 1st 2008 10:34PM
You might want to check out other brands like Sony / Nokia.
Poke4Christ @ Jul 1st 2008 1:12PM
I both agree and disagree with this. Apple doesn't do as much as I'd like for them to do for many things, and they block you out of a lot. However, what they do they do EXTREMELY well.
P.S. I own a Macbook Pro.
Greg N. @ Jul 1st 2008 10:00AM
iphone is going to be a failure
wayne gretzky @ Jul 1st 2008 10:08AM
what bothers me is the fact that everyone want this piece of jewelry and now wih the price so low many many people buy this thing - so its not special anymore, like the old ipod or other apple products and apple even want to go more mass market, that kills their philosphy...urgghh
Indubitably @ Jul 1st 2008 10:12AM
Anyone remember when the RAZR was huge? Now I think you can get them in happy meals at McD's.
And really, a guided tour of a slightly upgraded phone? really? shenanigans.
computer.dude.28 @ Jul 1st 2008 10:12AM
iPhone 3G will definately not fail. Hell, I got a Zune and 3 PCs, never owned a Mac, but I'd love to have an iPhone.
Your comment, on the other hand, did fail.
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 1st 2008 10:39AM
failure = EPIC SUCCESS
Dammit dude, if the iPhone's a failure (less than 1000 people on line July 11th), I'll whip my whang out in front of the Apple Cube store for all the international media to see and film. Hell, I might do it anyway to show what the iPhone 3G can do for a person's libido.
You think anyone would stand in line for a LG Dare, HTC Touch Diamond or Samsung Extinct. No EFFING way.
The iPhone 3G release will be a bigger event than the pope coming to Manhattan and rightly so. The pope may rule Vatican City, but the iPhone 3G will rule everywhere.
clakimpersonator @ Jul 1st 2008 2:45PM
You know what Greg? You are a failure. You are mean. You just can't recognize how awesome apple is and all of apple's products. You just don't understnad apple's greatness.
dssg @ Jul 1st 2008 10:04AM
why?
engadgetier @ Jul 1st 2008 10:17AM
Because, the iPhone dude likes to hear himself talk, so they taped it and put it on the internet.
Phineas @ Jul 1st 2008 10:22AM
Have we heard if you can talk on the phone and surf the web on the 3g iPhone?
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 1st 2008 10:46AM
How the heck could you do that unless you have an eye right under your ear? Next I'll hear that some Palm user used to do that on his 3-year-old Palm Treo or some crap like that.
You'd better just settle for driving a car and surfing the web on your iPhone at the same time.
Modano @ Jul 1st 2008 12:11PM
Yes. From Apple's iPhone 3G page: "Surf the web, download email, get directions, and watch video — even while you’re on a call."
http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/wireless.html
Obviously, you'd do this by using a headset or the speakerphone.
Chris H @ Jul 1st 2008 10:20AM
If he could just stop waving his hands like a complete tool for a moment..I might just watch it all! I wonder how many times his hands actually moved in the whole video...and how much they hurt after...or maybe he's just a puppet?
gcurtisjr @ Jul 1st 2008 10:22AM
Do we know if we can talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time on the iPhone 3g?
nickjsaunders @ Jul 1st 2008 10:55AM
You can while on the 3G network, yes.
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 1st 2008 10:58AM
I thought you were joking around, but you can do both simultaneously:

HAZE @ Jul 1st 2008 10:39AM
One thing that was missing that they actually added was being able to save pictures from the browser.
Still no MMS messaging, Video recording, or sound recording.
I'll stick with my Tilt thanks.
johnny5 @ Jul 1st 2008 11:06AM
Don't worry, there will be third-party apps for that stuff.
farinasa @ Jul 1st 2008 1:12PM
you can do MMS through email. phonenumber@carrierMMSserver.com send an email it should work. This is also a good way to get free texts.
PQ @ Jul 1st 2008 10:44AM
Bob Borchers, ladies and gentlemen!
Ellianth @ Jul 1st 2008 10:47AM
Dunno about all the tours, but this guys voice got a whole lot more annoying than i remember. And if he says "iPhone 3G" again i'm gonna kill myself.
Thi mam(kris120890) @ Jul 1st 2008 11:22AM
you've only been on here a couple of days ( at least with this identity) and everybody already low ranking you.
Phineas @ Jul 1st 2008 10:53AM
@ Steffen Jobbs
My question is legitimate with a headset. On the first iPhone, you could not talk on the phone and surf the web over Edge. With 3g this is possible and I was wondering if both could be done at the same time. I know that more than myself have asked this question.
Tom Boudreau @ Jul 1st 2008 1:07PM
Its a legit Q. Now you can do both together, because 3G works differently than EDGE.
The BEST part of this being that... if you are using the web/email on 3G and someone calls you, it won't send them straight to voicemail as it has in the past on EDGE. Which is a great improvement.
nickjsaunders @ Jul 1st 2008 10:57AM
Nice how they cut away just as they are about to confirm/not-confirm turn-by-turn directions.
Makes no sense.
Ten @ Jul 1st 2008 8:27PM
i noticed that to.
i heard tom tom had something in the works and were negotiating with apple, but i havent heard anything in a while.
Has anyone else got news on this front???
Brentt @ Jul 1st 2008 10:57AM
super monkey ball = $9.99 in the guided tour... is this new news?
Brentt @ Jul 1st 2008 11:01AM
nm...
insanejester17 @ Jul 1st 2008 1:05PM
I thought it was, also that AIM is going to be free, and from the looks of it probably available at launch.
doink @ Jul 1st 2008 11:15AM
The black sweater look is getting very annoying.
LloydChiro @ Jul 1st 2008 11:15AM
I couldn't watch the video. They wanted me to download some kind of software called "Quicktime."
I don't download stuff I don't trust.
Demodave @ Jul 1st 2008 12:20PM
I totally agree. The last time I installed QT a couple years ago, it stole my file associations and would not give them back. I changed the MIME settings and still had no luck. Everytime I clicked on a MP3 link in a webpage, QT would play it with their embedded player instead of Winamp. Even the QT forums on apple.com confirmed this "bug". Ever since, I refuse to install QT on my work or home machine.
Out of curiosity, did Apple ever fix this?
rob @ Jul 1st 2008 1:05PM
go to options/preferences, file associations, uncheck the boxes. sorry, don't know the exact menu names, but this is a common thing to do in any media playing software.
Seth @ Jul 1st 2008 11:23AM
Why in gods name would someone DRIVE from Brooklyn to midtown just because they wanted a pizza?
Nik @ Jul 1st 2008 11:44AM
But it insists on using QuickTime if you want to view it, and I value my PC's stability too much to load QuickTime, oh well.
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 1st 2008 11:29AM
The iPhone 3G tour was heck of a lot more interesting than watching The Incredible Hulk. It darn sure made more sense than a 160 lb. guy turning into a one-ton monster. iPhone 3G tour is definitely Academy Award material.
The reason that guy talks using his hands so much is because he's probably part Italian. They're a very expressive group of people.
So this iPhone tour has sealed it for certain that the iPhone will replace the electric lightbulb as the most important device to mankind in the last 200 years. Amazing. Absolutely amazing that one device can do everything even better than a djinni in a bottle. Touch it a few times and all your wishes come true with unlimited wishes as long as you can afford carrier charges. I'll take two.
marchhair @ Jul 1st 2008 4:11PM
All Mac adverts have people moving their hands, it's nothing new. Infact, Maddox even talked about it at length, http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=macs_cant
Including the video - "Mac morons can't talk without using their hands." - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Tq7yykR-DM
