Tata's Nano to begin production this Fall, eco-friendly version on the way?
Your dreams of riding in the ultimate cheapo deathbox have just gotten a little bit more real. According to a report, Tata will begin production of its diminutive, ultra-affordable Nano car this Fall. The $2500 vehicle is generally known as the cheapest car in the world, though worries over inflation suggest that its price-point may move above the intended figure. In other news, sources say that Tata plans a "greener" version of the vehicle in addition to the original model, which -- if it happens -- will likely be a real knockout punch for penny-pinchers with an Earth-hugging mindset. Still, you'll probably have to ship it from India, which would burn a lot of fossil fuels, which would be bad for the environment... oh just buy an old Yugo.

Buy two and have a pair of Tata's.
At 70 km/hr (~ 40 mph) top speed , it probably cant do much damage even to the pedestrian if hit. Let alone the passengers or car.
And at 20km / litre ( more than 50 miles gallon i think ) its one of the greenest car .
It has well passed bharat stage 4 which is equivalant to euro 4 emission norm.
Not sure about safety norms , but it'll have to pass indian standards to get on the road. Which is , while not as strict as europe , is still good enough for target market.
It's like olpc of car . Not meant to replace big car. But to create a new category of its own.
i think u have missed wood for the trees. The entire project is exemplary. Lots and lots of innovation in the machine, project timeliness and project executions, new business paradigms, Efforts and way of thinking, vision and ability to make car available to lot more people, I can write a lot more here, isn't it?
And the EEE of the automobiles begin with tata nano...
Must smell pretty ripe in one of those things packed with 4 Indians - like corn oil and feet, prolly. Yeesh.
Wow. You reached a whole new low.
I'd say something witty, but I'm partly insulted and partly wondering what corn oil has to do with anything?
With all the big SUV's and P/U's out there, we'll be having mashed Tata's every night.
I dont like this car, its adding more fuel to the fire (rather more fuel to fire)
But I like this check out the link below, Tata is working on a car which runs on Compressed Air, much more environment friendly and fuel effici..
