Video: Choe U Ram's creepy robotic art
Korean artist, Choe U Ram, possesses something most artists don't: a deep understanding of robotics. With it, he creates massive, precision engineered sculptures with an eerie organic feel. While his show titled, Anima Machines (Anima is Latin for life or soul) just wrapped up at the SCAI The Bathhouse gallery in Japan, we've managed to collect a few images and video of the exhibition as disturbingly beautiful and tragic as the uprising itself.

Sweet Jesus! That picture looks like I'm being swallowed whole!
wow
DAMMIT. that's exactly what I was going to say.
JUMANJI!!!!!!!
Kinda creepy, but very impressive... this guy must have put a lot of hours in this.
awesome, and very impressive...most people don't have enough time or patience to put into something like this, but I guess that's why they call it art =)
Ive seen these photos before, but non the less, very* impressive. Man has some talent, and I much respect his creative and imaginative prowess.
On an interesting note, did he or THX (sound company) copy one or the other? If anyone has recently seen any movie with a THX opening, there is a creative splash with mechanical flowers producing sound I believe. Same concept with the mechanical flowers and plants in the video above. Interesting though.
That is staggeringly beautiful. Would love to see these in person.
Yea, definitely go see if one comes near by. It was remarkable, too bad there wasn't more of them. Better yet, buy one! There was a price tag, and the small thing went for 40-50 thousand dollars, while the big one cost 150 thousand USD or more.
Wow. Is his art for sale?
VERY nice. Looks like Chihuly but with metal. (http://www.chihuly.com/)
That is so friggin cool.
I don't like non functional machines made by artist, I'd rather have them make real machines artistic.
