You can get small craft oriented lasers for around $3k, last I checked. Industrial models start at about $10k for around 35w and a smallish 12x16 or so work space. A better starting point would be a little more powerful laser and an 18x24 work space so you can do some decently sized signage, which I think hits the $15k-$18k mark.
