According to the reader who sent this our way, this candy dispenser looks "exactly" like a
Wiimote, except it fires candy out of the spot where the IR transmitter should be. Apparently the instructions suggest that you "Do not aim at face," so... it's kind of like the real thing.

Timothy]

Chris Macdonald @ Jul 6th 2008 7:24PM
I saw it at superstore (loblaws)
Joey @ Jul 6th 2008 12:47AM
My sister bought me one of those. The candy is not that bad, but the dispenser poorly made, the candy gets stuck all the time.
Paul @ Jul 6th 2008 12:49AM
I don't see this qualifying as a "Keeping It Real Fake" segment as it seems to be a licensed Nintendo product as noted by the Official Seal of Quality.
Paul @ Jul 6th 2008 3:48AM
That's what I was thinking.
And ironically we have the same name :o
triforceOFcourage @ Jul 6th 2008 3:33AM
They actually sold something very similar to these during the N64 days. They had a Mario, Young Link, and Donkey Kong styled after the N64 models under the same name: Klik. I've got all three, and as soon as I find the Wii-mote, will add that to the collection.

I saw this at a korean market in LA. I finally bought one a week ago.
mariofreak64 @ Jul 6th 2008 1:05AM
It shoots out the RECEIVER. The sensor bar is the tranemitter.
matthewlikestoburn @ Jul 6th 2008 3:06AM
that's what i was thinking
Sam Zebian @ Jul 6th 2008 1:05AM
I had one of these a few weeks ago, my little brother bought it from blockbuster or something like that... Half of the candy is like sweet tarts, and the other half looks the same, but it's actually really gross gum. The shooter doesn't shoot very far either.
HalfJoey @ Jul 6th 2008 1:09AM
I saw one in a Walgreen and almost bought it.
jsz @ Jul 6th 2008 1:10AM
Funny you should mention this, I bought one of these last Sunday on break at work, they have them at Walgreens.
initialxy @ Jul 6th 2008 1:14AM
wonder what the WARNNING says at right bottom corner.
DeKU @ Jul 6th 2008 1:20AM
looks like it says:
WARNING:

WOW! same answer at the same time! :-)
Trey @ Jul 6th 2008 1:27AM
Choking hazard: Small parts not for children under 5 years
Steventm @ Jul 6th 2008 1:27AM
Guess which part is the choking hazard.
initialxy @ Jul 6th 2008 9:14AM
ah! no candy for you kids!
Garst @ Jul 6th 2008 1:20AM
It even comes with fake Smarties! I don't think I'd eat those though.
Jack @ Jul 6th 2008 1:24AM
They look more like rockets
Twitchy @ Jul 6th 2008 1:27AM
Here I was getting all excited that PEZ was making a comeback.
Chris G @ Jul 6th 2008 1:41AM
"exactly", except they are about half the size....
Jaeson DeLeon @ Jul 6th 2008 1:51AM
I just got one of those, actually.
The fake Smarties have a PEZ candy texture, and actually taste BETTER. The Smarties gum that comes with it as well...not so much.
It doesn't shoot very far, though.
Jon Nelson @ Jul 6th 2008 3:24AM
Better than pez?
You, sir, are a liar.
Webkinz @ Jul 6th 2008 1:51AM
that is hilarious, i need to get me one of those
BeniRose @ Jul 6th 2008 1:53AM
Yeah, they have this one stocked and prominently on display at my walgreens as well.
Farwest @ Jul 6th 2008 1:59AM
HEY! I saw this at Bed Bath & Beyond!
Kevlar @ Jul 6th 2008 2:04AM
I saw them at Mac's here in Canada-land if you're looking for one northwards. My friend was kind enough to point them out, and the fact that they do, in fact, appear to be officially licensed.
xerocin @ Jul 6th 2008 2:13AM
My girl has one of those. She pointed out the power button is on the wrong side.
Josh @ Jul 6th 2008 6:06AM
I think your girl is wrong.
panda @ Jul 6th 2008 2:14AM
now if only they had a gatorade-shooting nunchuck...
Hero @ Jul 6th 2008 2:25AM
Well, PEZ had one of those. Lemme see if I still have it. Either I or the pawn shop has (had) it. >.
Hero @ Jul 6th 2008 2:28AM
Hah! Found it.... Aw man... its the same thing. But, at least its got PEZ in it!! Lol.
Scott S @ Jul 6th 2008 2:40AM
I just saw one of these the other day at my Walgreens in NJ.
Smarty Pants @ Jul 6th 2008 2:45AM
Those have been around forever where I live.
Nate DiDonato @ Jul 6th 2008 4:16AM
It is highly, HIGHLY doubtful that you'd find a Nintendo seal of quality branded item like this in so many stores across the US without it being real. If it weren't, it'd be pulled pretty quick.
Anyone able to read the manufacture name and see where they're from?
Thijs Haenen @ Jul 6th 2008 6:29AM
If you look at the original picture on Flickr, you can just make out that it says "au'some" in the top left.
