Apple App Store now live!

You can't purchase anything yet but you can sure as hell browse around. The trick: search for a known application or publisher like AOL. Got it? Good, then backup to "App Store" in the navigation menu. We've got AIM messenger, Twitteriffic, and the Apple Remote control application all for free and an endless supply of games including Super Monkey Ball and more. See anything you like?

Does anyone know if there's a UK cinema app.

I'm assuming the app store's are different for US/UK but i'm registered on the US store so all the cinema apps contain US cinemas

i've downloaded some of the free apps however i am unable to sync w/ itunes...do we have to wait for v2.0 in order to get these goodies on our iphones or am i just missing something??

Awesome, it looks like there is a Listen.app type application, - Melodis. Hold your iphone up to a speaker and it will find the name and singer of the song.

you should check out stagehand on the app store. it allows you to control your keynote (sorry no powerpoint) presentations using your iphone/ipod touch. it cost $8 but well worth it.

If I install one of these apps and decide I don't like it, how do I get rid of it? (To free up the memory it was using...or to improve stability, which I suppose could be relevant, if the app were poorly written.)

Is that possible? Short of resetting my iPod touch to factory settings: thereby losing bookmarks, contacts, etc.

found an apple support page which explains how these issues can be handled from within iTunes, so...never mind.

however, I'm definitely not installing the iPhone 2.0 upgrade until things settle down.
