from what I've heard, the hold-up resides in the fact that current CF cards are not fast enough to handle the data rate and burst rates of the camera - therefore they are not able to produce the camera yet. they design their technology for the future technology breakthroughs - not the current. that creates this "lag" in waiting for the industry to catch up.
that being said, "inexpensive" CF cards may or may not work with this camera - an 8GB SanDisk Ducati CF card is still close to $200 per card. I'm not sure when the 16GB ones will be out. But if these aren't fast enough, then we're going to be waiting for the SanDisk "5" or "6" series to actually work with this thing...
However, a standard CF card may be able to handle normal data rates without variable frame rates - not sure though.
Also need to consider audio - I know there was mention of support last time...
I remember this camera being able to take 2 cards at one time with the ability to hot swap them, but look at the HVX200 and similar cameras... the amount of memory in this is much more reasonable, but for the "average Joe" this is going to be a really expensive camera to get a few shots of the family and kids playing baseball
