LG Chocolate 3 meets retail destiny on July 13
We'd heard that the latest incarnation of the Chocolate series from LG on Verizon would be launching next Monday, but we've got some great news to close out the week, fans: you'll be able to plunk down your cash a full day early. It turns out that the Chocolate 3 will actually be launching this Sunday, July 13 for the expected $129.99 after rebate, featuring a 2 megapixel cam, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and an in-your-face set of external music controls, all in your choice of black or light blue. Just add an 8GB microSD card and the Rhapsody tie-in, and you've got yourself a little musical powerhouse here.

Looks pretty cool actually.
tyler @ Jul 11th 2008 10:12AM
You mean to tell me.. there is another cell phone being released?
Metkis @ Jul 11th 2008 10:42AM
@tyler:
Another cell another day. I've simply ran out of interesting things to say about them anymore. I think I have the same problem with the 'new UMPC-a-day' posts.

on monday? ahhh and i just got the 3g iphone now i have to go back and return it so i can get the sweet chocolate................................................................
Not!
saycheese @ Jul 11th 2008 9:58AM
Who is the idiot here? One who pays nearly 85 bucks a month for crippled 3G network and non-working GPS just to pose off to onlookers, or the one who saves the money for an equally good, if not better and more practical phone?
Not everyone in the world is an iSuckup and an iTard !
Metkis @ Jul 11th 2008 10:47AM
@Saycheese: The iPhone has its one-ups too, you can't discount that it actually has a usable browser and that its interface doesn't make you scream.
Of course, everything you said is pretty much true though, it is still quite slow and not worth the monthly payment rate.
To each their own though. If someone has the money to blow, it's not a bad device with a ton of functionality. For someone that wants a phone and only a phone, well, steer clear.
Dan @ Jul 11th 2008 12:43PM
@saycheese
As Metkis said, just because someone has the cash to blow it on something they want doesnt make them a i-whatever... seriously lose the "i" crap reference and go buy your chocolate with the rest of the 10-20 ppl who will get it.
Thats if you even wanted to get it which would defeat the purpose of you defending the phone and just wanted to get at someone who likes apple products....
cj @ Jul 11th 2008 1:12PM
yaa gd luck using ur "cool" iphone with the server down.
Congrats for making such a great decision.
Dan @ Jul 11th 2008 1:15PM
@cj
Yeah because its granted it'll be up and running by the end of the day
so yea.. good job
soooo I dont know what else you gonna use to justify at getting at the iPhone for....
but when you think of something let us know aight man.....
Fernando @ Jul 11th 2008 9:00AM
Yawn!!!
josh @ Jul 11th 2008 9:09AM
Looks like lots of exterior control there. I like that, it more seemlesly combines the mp3 player and cell phone.
Rick @ Jul 11th 2008 9:37AM
Who needs an iPhone? This is what I will get. We are eligible for new phones this year with Verizon. I wont switch to the crap lousy ATT covergae here. You can carry this phone in your pocket and not worry about change or keys damaging the main display.
NoAndThen @ Jul 11th 2008 9:45AM
I was considering an iPhone 3G, until i saw their pricing plans. This seems pretty sweet, I'll prolly get one come september!
Bizam! @ Jul 11th 2008 10:07AM
The Chocolate 2 has been nothing but a great phone and MP3 player for me and honestly Verizon's coverage is pretty damn hard to beat. I'd get a Chocolate 3 for sure.
tony collins @ Jul 11th 2008 10:58AM
a2dp avrc and the fm transmitter really make this phone a great sale. plus you gotta think that 8gb mirco sd cards are only 30+ bucks now on amazon makes this phone a great sale. too bad im waiting on the touch pro, but after i got bluetooth in my car i will never get a phone with out a2dp.
mykie @ Jul 11th 2008 11:27AM
I'm really starting to consider leaving Sprint and my lovely SERO plan for Verizon and their Rhapsody integration...
Hopefully Sprint will back on the ball with Rhapsody integration, because Pandora can only keep me amused for so long...
DJDevine @ Jul 11th 2008 11:32AM
Is it me... or didn't I read on here not too long ago about staying on topic or face the banhammer... *cough*. Where in the hell does it say iPhone anywhere in the above description. Keep whats not been said out of the picture.

I'm trying to decide between the Chocolate 3 and the LG Dare now.
spock3 @ Jul 11th 2008 1:25PM
I saw a promo in the newspaper this morning announcing a free 8 gig sandisk micro sd card (with new activation, 2 year agreement and $79 plan and up) with the purchase of the dare for $199. I'm not sure if you'd be able to score the card with an upgrade.
Lein @ Jul 11th 2008 12:53PM
Are you SURE you're not him?
Quix @ Jul 11th 2008 1:50PM
Good grief LG, is it really that hard to design your own interface
icons without lifting them directly from Apple? Seriously.
aprillo @ Jul 12th 2008 12:03PM
..Really, man? I mean really? You're one of "those people"? Really?
anonymouspimp @ Jul 11th 2008 1:43PM
Good one clak! You're such a good little drone.
Some Kid @ Jul 13th 2008 3:20PM
here i know this isnt relevant but i just wanted to ask-VZW is a EVDO rev A network right?
cause i just saw a commercial for them and they said it was running on their 3G network (forget the product)
Is Rev A called 3G now?
thought it was only GSM and some high HSDPAs
or am i just completely wrong
Joe @ Jul 24th 2008 10:29PM
Are you kidding me?
Prada icons came out before the iPhone.
And I wish everyone would stop comparing EVERY phone to the iPhone; I can point out so many flaws of the iPhone it would make Steve Jobs' head spin in his tight little black 90's "Friend's" sweater.
