OCZ debuts Alchemy gaming peripheral line with Elixir keyboard

OCZ has already made a few forays into gaming peripherals, but it now looks like its attempting to step things up considerably with a whole new line dubbed "Alchemy," which has just made its debut with the Elixir gaming keyboard. This one takes square aim at the likes of Razer's Lycosa, with it offering the same non-slip rubber keys and ten tri-mode programmable macro keys, but a decidedly more budget-minded price: just $30 list. No firm word on any other additions to the Alchemy line just yet, unfortunately, but OCZ assures us that the Elixir is just the "first of many gaming keyboards, mice, another other computer gaming accessories."

30 bucks is a solid deal but I don't think this will be replacing my G15 anytime soon.. I look forward to seeing more from OCZ though.
Agreed. I use the CPU/memory meters on the G15's display constantly; in fact, I turned off everything else unless I have Winamp running.
Is it just me or does this look alot like the razer tarantula
Another Tarantula?
prefer my logitech g15 v1 and my logitech G7 mouse, just got a G9 for the M1530 too, logitech make the best gaming hardware
G15+G7.. same combo here. Logitech does make solid gaming hardware.
Are you playing Bingo? G15.. G7.. I gotta Bingo a long time ago with a B8.
And Bingo was his name-o!
g15 and a g5 here. Wouldn't trade them for anything at this point.
mx revo + g15 here (&belkin n52te & everglide monstermat titan black:P) ;]
btw check out roccat valo and kone - http://www.roccat.org/home/ (my next future keyboard:)
Get your Razer tarantula on!
Yea, kind of um unimpressive? And, guys of course it looks like the Razor, that's who they are trying to undercut. Same keyboard cheeper price, pickup all the customers who want the same thing, but for less. nice idea, however it would have been nice to see something a little different.
Sweet a razor tarantula ohhh its OCZ ?
It's Razer, not Razor.
Oh $30 looks great for a Tarantula-knockoff.
I don't like it when they have the macro keys on the sides. I always press them accidentally. That's what makes the Lycosa nice imo, the fact that the macros are all done on the existing keys of a normal keybaord.
As far as Keyboards go I am still looking for a good one, but for my mouse I have to say the New MS sidewinder mouse is dam close to perfect the weight is adjustable along with the dpi and mouse feet. It is one great mouse.
bomb keyboard .. itd be even better if it lit up =]
mmmm so for now ill stick with my saitek eclipse II :P it lights up blue !
When will they figure out that we dont need more keys and lights, we need BETTER KEYS.
I'd rather have a Das Keyboard.
Even at $30, I'd bet this thing is much better than the Lycosa. That was my first Razer product and it left such a bad impression on me that it was also my last. I quickly replaced it with a Ideazon Merc Stealth.
Bad design. I would never buy a keyboard with an Enter key and Backspace key like this one has.
Yup im in the same boat as you are dude, i would never pay for a backspace that small, what were they thinking,
Anybody else hate that little backspace key as much as me? My keyboard at work just got replaced a month ago with that style and I'm always hitting \ when I want to backspace.
So are they going to be calling their mouse the Philosopher's Stone?
I'm typing on a razer tarantula. I just read Engadget and immdiately thought they had the wrong picture by accident! HOOOOLLLYYYY CRAPPP for patent infringement!
I think this should be the newest installment of "Keeping it Fake, part whatever"
...I can't get over that, seriously OCZ, did you just stare at a Razer all day and go "How can we totally rip this off?"
Hey, congrats to MP for making it on Engadget!!
Guys the more competition there is the cheaper the products will be. Stop complaining at the fact that it looks like the tarantula. Wake up and look at the bright side....besides is only $30 bucks compared to $99 for the same $#!^ over at razer.
No click click?
Stickin' to my Model M.
