Sony Style is running a rather large teaser on its main page, featuring a quite distinctive power button and the blurb "Performance / Style / Mobility. Redefined." Hrm. We wonder what it could be?
Doesn't E3 start Monday (July 14th)? Anyone thinking outside of new laptop new psp or slim ps3 maybe. Highly unlikely but you never know Sony may surprise us. I'm curious as to what it is even though i won't buy it.
I am not happy about Sony disabling Intel VT hardware virtualization on all of their Vaios, if you try, you can hack and enable it but it should be enabled out of the factory with the intel processors that support it.
For what Sony asks for their laptops, I would much rather get a macbook pro (at least I'd get all the nifty Apple software and aesthetic) or more likely one of those new VoodooPC Envy 133s.
Shit... for about the same price as the macbook air, same exact size, carbon fiber chassis, all the "standard" premium features like backlit keyboard, webcam, built-in mic, and then all those awesome unique features like the eSATA DVD-RW drive, power brick that has the ethernet port and doubles as a portable wifi access point, multitouch trackpad, instant-on linux environment... what the balls is Sony doing lately?
Vdogg89, "typical asus fanboy", don't even compare your Asus F3sv to a TZ. Different specs, different notebook/laptop category buddy. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
Just to throw my speculative hat into the ring. Im gonna dream of. A new clamshell designed ps3. e3 is coming. screw any evidence showing its a laptop im gonna be. stubborn and prey for new psp.
It doesn't look like a normal laptop shape or any of the photos we have seen for the new z series etc. -What is the bit with the horizontal lines? - The bit to the left is curved I think it could be the UX series replacement maybe
OK, I gotta agree with something, first of all, I am a Sony fanboy (I literally kiss Sony's bottom). I got a Vaio ($2000), 2 Bravia LCDs, Home cinema, Blu ray player, digital camera, video camera, PS2, PSone (soon to be PS3) friggin sony fridge too. Even got my couch a custom made Sony logo.
Tell you one thing, they are friggin' over priced. Sony are the Apple of the giants. Although we all can argue on the quality of the products, these days they seem to be bringing down their prices a bit (not by much) and they're even planning on releasing a low cost EEE rival (low cost in their terms would be right about $2000 may be). I do hate their prices but the next product I'm gonna buy is gonna be a Sony! (hopefully a PS3 when they decide to finally lower the price of the 40gb).
They aren't bringing down the price of the 40GB PS3 any time soon. They have recorded huge loses in their PS3 division and they said that right now they're concentrating more on profitability than sales.
Even at $399, the 40GB PS3 is a much better deal than the X360 20GB or 60GB at $299 or $349, or even in my opinion a hypothetical 60GB at $299 (the question remains as to whether MSFT will keep 4 SKUs, make the 20GB the new arcade, or make the 60GB the new 20GB).
I mean for $400 its a blu-ray player... oh, you already spent much more on a standalone blu-ray player that won't play PS3 games. That stinks.
Sigh, Those apple fanboys likes to compare so much with pc's and pc fans like to bag apple fanboys. It never ends.
Anyway, I 'm totally buying the new Z series, may cause like $2200 Us minimum. But well, it is the only ultraportable with a widescreen laptop which apparently has the highest colour reporduction in the market.+
Also made with carbon fiber from a first world country unlike some specific company that is known for to have their laptop made by some of the most underpay labour on Earth (cough!! China).++
Finally, Sony's Tz is voted the greenest laptop (low voltage consumption and fully recyclable laptop) on earth, I can be confident that the Z series will follow the same footstep.
Z is 1.49kg, almost as light as macbook air (1.36kg) but with
+ Integrated DVDRW + Better display (1600x900 16:9 vs 1280x800 16:10) + Integrated/Discrete switchable graphics (missing from MBA/X300) + HDMI output (which is more versatile than micro-dvi and includes audio)+ A neat dock which folds back when not in use.
Shame there's no Trackpoint or SSD options though.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
If it does what it needs to do, I'll be looking into it, after my Bravia and last Vaio, doubt I could go wrong.
I wonder if Sony is still sticking to the "chiclet" keyboard with their new laptops. I don't even look at them because of the toy keyboard.
Our cousins across the pond get some kind of shindig in Berlin on 7/15:

Also they have some kind of contest going. What do we get? Nada.
They are trying to pull a stunt like APPLE iPHONE - curiosity effect. But I guess it doesn't work anymore, only APPLE can do pull those stunts.

psp phone. Hahaha
I would love to buy a PSP-Phone.

A laptop thinner then Macbook Air offcourse

Mobility redefined?
You just already know it won't be because Sony can only use Microsoft software so it's either ;
a) a laptop running Vista
or
b) a phone running Windows Mobile.
Either way the Microsoft part of the deal drags it down into the gutter.
or worse ;
c) Sony's own phone software - in which case it will suck even harder than Microsoft's.
Performance / Style / Mobility. Redefined...
I can predict the product details. Smaller form, and much thinner, high cost, lots of crapware, maybe free Sony spyware included.
Actually I was a big Sony fan, as their products are cool (full stop).
that is the power button on x360 turn straight up.

I just came from the 4th time repairshop visit for my Vaio notebook.
Please, save your money, these pcs aren't meant to last more than a year...
asus for the win

of course it's gonna be a smaller version of their vaio series. everyone is trying to go small these days.
its 10:30pm CT on Monday July 14th. I am not seeing anything new? I should just get back into line for my iPhone....lol
