Palm's Treo 800w now available online from Sprint
We're not sure if you check most mobile provider's sites every ten minutes or so (like we do), but if you did, you would have noticed that the latest Palm Windows Mobile device -- the Treo 800w -- is available for purchase at Sprint's online store. The phone, which features a 320 x 320 screen, EV-DO Rev. A, WiFi, and GPS, is currently listing for $249.99 after a $250 instant savings, $100 mail-in rebate, and two-year contract. So if you've been absolutely, positively dying to get your hands on this thing -- now's your chance.

and that's why everyone is buying it and it was invention of the year 2007... Wow your a smart one :)
Neither of you make any sense to me whatsoever.
making fun of someone for not being smart.... and incorrectly using a simple word like "your" (should have been "you're", kiddo) doesn't really help whatever [idiotic] statement you were trying to get across.
part of getting people to understand where you're (see... TADA) coming from is properly wording your (AGAIN.. tada) opinion.
now, go out and play squirt guns.
Just added the 800w to my $30/mo SERO plan. Sweet!
Might have something to do with FrankenGarnet being horribly outdated, and having very poor support for the features on this phone. On the bright side, the rumor mill says that this hardware might be what Nova debuts on...
(And, before the Palm OS fanboys get offended, I do like it - I'm typing this on my Centro - I'm just willing to admit that it is outdated.)
I don't know about soccer mums I didn't think IPhone fanboys knew what a woman looked like, much less felt like
That's ironic - I have a picture of your Mom on my iPhone.
BTW, No more SERO plans, now the employee referral plans are Simply Everything plans with a $10 discount.
If you're on SERO, better make sure you're grandfathered in!
that would be beast in palm os form
Why is it that every phone post around here turns into a fanboy flamewar? We are all here because we love technology and new gadgets. To each his own right?
it's the same with any product that has different incarnations from different companies.... I'll admit, if I've had a bad experience.. or I've been able to compare something side-by-side and one was better, I'll bash the bad things about the lesser of the two items.
it's just the nature of competition.
everyone's going to pick a side.
yes, you make a good point about people behaving even though they've picked their side... but you and everyone else on this site know that common sense of that caliber will never come to pass.
one person from one side of the argument will always rile up someone on the other side.. and then the rest come in for back-up.
that's just how us humans are.
I've owned every new Palm phone ever since the 650 and by far this is the ugliest phone out of all of them. Also I don't know where Sprint started to grow some grapefruits thinking they can overcharge for the same customer service and same old technology when their phones haven't come close to any of the other carriers. I've been a loyal sucker for over 8 years now and when my contract is up in January no more upgrades and if they pull any extra charge crap I'm dumping them and pulling out my old tin can and string.
Palm succeeds in making another fugly phone.
Exactly.
I mean, the whole reason I buy a smartphone is because it looks "cool" or "sexy". How well it works or its features are totally irrelevant. This is 2008 after all. duh.
I don't even care if they make calls or can do MMS just as long as people don't judge me based on the crude aesthetics of my mobile (shudder).
There is only one true measurement of a good smartphone which Palm doesn't get: how good are their commercials.
If my phone isn't pirouetting and glossy with child music playing in the background...I don't want it.

Stop making obvious comments with bad grammar.
Anyone notice this so-called piece of garbage according to the iphone wackos is doing something an iphone can only dream of.
TURN BY TURN GPS DIRECTIONS IN REAL TIME!!!!!!
Yah, Sprint's network is the best in the US by far, ATT sucks.
too bad i come equipped with turn by turn navigation... it's called a sense of direction and applied common sense. i guess it's a declining genetic trend.
as i said in another post... i prefer overhead satellite imagery for landmark ID with road overlay and blue dot tracking me. it's clean, neat, and not fisher-price looking like tom-tom and garmin.
i also don't need another female voice trying to dictate to me what i should do... but i understand a lot of people like to have it all spelled out for them for the times when applying oneself is just silly.
"overhead satellite imagery for landmark ID with road overlay and blue dot tracking me"
So... Google Maps? Available for Windows Mobile too. /clap
@BaseVilliN
yeah... but it works better for people equipped with talent who don't like being nagged by a voice.
Ah, yes of course. It's better to have no choice what to use.
@BaseVilliN
dunno if you heard... there's this thing... called the App Store... and TomTom wants in...
http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/06/10/tomtom-announces-iphone-gps-app
but again, i don't care to have fisher-price and something that sounds like my mother-in-law giving me directions. and... unlike TomTom... i don't have to be on a road for it know where i am and what i'm doing.... case in point... drop a pin... locate a place to go... and you can have directions mapped on streets... or you can go whatever way you want... walk, bike, drive, segway, fly, base jump, repel... and it doesn't inform me i'm offroad or advise me to get on the road...
it just tells me where i am and lets me see where i want to go... and it just follows me... perfect... simple... uninvasive... and doesn't require a lobotomy as a user requirement =)
anyone notice that the battery is only 1150 mAh? can that be right? the 700w and 700p both have 1800 mAh batteries and they have to be charged every day. i suppose it is to make the device thinner but that would suck if it doesn't last all day...
Oh my god!!! They actually think this thing is worth $600, retail? Are they kidding? I know all the companies do this, but it is such a joke. I'm not sure if it is even worth $250, considering you have to sign a 2 year contract, but it is an absolute joke at $600.
I haven't heard anything on this being exclusive, so you could just go get it at radio shack and it will be probably cheaper and with instant rebates.
BTW, this iphone vs. palm argument is ridiculous. I personally own a centro on an employee plan and love it. I also have a tmobile line that i wouldn't mind having an iphone on, but they would serve two different purposes. One to impress people, and one to just talk on and get work done...
I'm not quite sure you can call it an argument. More like beating a dead cat. I'm gonna pick mine up in the morning. I looked at this phone on Saturday and decided that I would prefer this over the Touch because of the Wi-Fi and the GPS...
I'm considering buying the 800, but my co-worker says to wait for September because a better phone is coming. What is it and is it worth the wait?
What is coming in September, I want the 800 but my co-workers say to wait for a better phone. What do you think?
You guys need to quit camparing everything to iphone. I would love an iphone too. but im not gonna leave sprint for a phone not to mention my bill going up at least 50 dollars a month.
I dont think phone exclusivity is right.
You know that if iphone wasnt locked down, verizon and spront would have models of them that would blow att(hitler) out of the water.
Att and verizon are becoming monopolies, you can tell by their pricing. and as they get bigger and bigger they will raise prices more and more.
I get all i need, 500 at , un n&w starting at 5, unlimited data, and text for 22 a month. I love sprint.
well the form factor is good and qwerty keypad i love it id rather do swap my crappy iphone to this baby here....
whew iphone sucks
READ THE FINE PRINT ENGADGET!
The phone is actually $350 (with 2-year contract) YOU ONLY GET THE $100 mail-in REBATE WHEN YOU PURCHASE THE $25/month DATA PLAN..
Just another way to sucker you into a data plan especially when this thing has wi-fi..
