Ditto. Palm is what's at the end of your hand. If you want a Smart Phone go for the iPhone.

The palm design looks kinda dated and cost just as much as iPhone (if not more), no push email like blackberry.
I think Palm will soon be a roadkill
Vcize @ Jul 14th 2008 10:18AM
It's also $70/month cheaper than the iPhone, which is $840 per year cheaper, or $1680 cheaper over the life of a two year contract, so...
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 14th 2008 11:06AM
iPhone........ NOT!
Perfect song for the Palm Treo

It most certainly has push email with Exchange.
gad get @ Jul 14th 2008 8:42AM
It would look soooo much better in black.
gad get @ Jul 14th 2008 8:44AM
I am so smart! S-m-r-t!
Fernando @ Jul 14th 2008 8:50AM
It would look so much better it it were an iPhone!
Bob Cobb @ Jul 14th 2008 8:53AM
And now you can't even get that phone on a Sero Plan. I feel bad for anyone who pays $60 a month for that dated piece of sh!t.
Loker @ Jul 14th 2008 10:48AM
1. the 800w is probably the most advanced WinMo phone on the market right now (until september...touch pro!)
2. That $60 plan still makes Sprint way more cost effective than any other carrier...have you even looked at all the features it comes with now? (still love my grandfathered $30 sero plan though!)
Tim @ Jul 14th 2008 8:55AM
This excites me just as much as testicular decapitation!
Rynth @ Jul 14th 2008 9:18AM
Sorry, as much as I find your comments witty and amusing, what the hell is testicular decapitation?
Oh crap! I've beheaded my testis!
Qué?
Tim @ Jul 14th 2008 9:45AM
It's sort of an inside joke. There's this horrible local band called testicular decapitation and we made a fake video involving a dumpling, a sponge, red kool-aid, and cream cheese. ;)
I understand decapitation is of the head, lol.
Magnificen7 @ Jul 14th 2008 9:02AM
Good fortune? Ha ha, I would love to have had the good fortune of smashing it under my foot. I'm swapping my 750 for an iPhone. Stupid worthless piece of junk.
Homeboy @ Jul 14th 2008 9:04AM
Funny that the entire feature isn't posted here unlike some of the blant iPhone related "news" you guys have posted lately.
Revels @ Jul 14th 2008 9:11AM
The Palm Treo 800w, direct from 1995!
TareX @ Jul 14th 2008 9:11AM
Square screens suck. Even BBs no longer have that. Keypad looks amazing, as expected.
But the screen, size and res is a huge downer for me.
Michael @ Jul 14th 2008 9:12AM
Wow. It seems that the only people that write comments anymore are complaining about something. Engadget gets blamed if there are too many articles about the iPhone on the page...yet look at how many of these comments are about the iPhone. Seriously. Engadget it at least trying to bring you "other" news and you just can't stop talking about the iPhone. Geez, if you can't stop talking about it, then quit yer bitchin when Engadget covers the topic.
L @ Jul 14th 2008 9:12AM
Does anybody else feel like the average IQ of posters here is about the same as a slice of bread? A few good comments get drowned in an ocean of "First/iPhone/Sucks" posts and their replies...
Mark @ Jul 14th 2008 9:55AM
Couldn't agree more.
gad get @ Jul 14th 2008 10:52AM
Im smrtar thin a peese uv bredd!
Mike S. @ Jul 14th 2008 9:14AM
Nokia, Samsung, and LG (among others) manage to crap out different handsets every day. WTF is this piece by Palm? It tooks them this friggen' long to release this piece of trash which looks like a Centro with a bigger keyboard... plus it's running WinMo6!!!
Mark @ Jul 14th 2008 9:57AM
"Crap out" is exactly the right term. Quality takes time.
Roakdill_x @ Jul 14th 2008 2:37PM
This phone still better (and fater) then most win mobile phones out there and it will do everything the iphone will. I know the look is a little dated but i for one still want a real keyboard to typing. Go looks at it at a store this thing moves way faster then a touch or Q9.
TMM @ Jul 14th 2008 9:19AM
Wuuuuu! Hellooooo early 90s!
Goodbye Palm!
Mark @ Jul 14th 2008 9:47AM
You must not have been born yet in the early 90s, because there
were barely even cell phones or internet back then, much less a
device like this.
Nomi @ Jul 14th 2008 9:21AM
YEY Shitty Palm., with a recessed screen. I thought recessed screens were so 2006...what with the HTCs and the Apples and the RIMs.
gad get @ Jul 14th 2008 10:54AM
*The Blackberries.
Reality Check @ Jul 14th 2008 9:21AM
This is not a terrible looking device. It's actually kinda sharp.
But, unlike the HTC TouchFLO 3D interface or the Samsung Omnia's customized interface, this thing has relatively barebones Windows Mobile, which just plain sucks. It's a 10 year old OS.
If you could get Android on this form factor, we might be talking. But barebones Windows Mobile is no longer competitive compared to OS X mobile, the upcoming Android, or HTC's innovative customizations to WinMo.
Charles Han @ Jul 14th 2008 9:24AM
okay wuts all these omplaints, dude treo users don't get palm for looks geez, its concentrated on users who needs it for work. In terms of functionality it has everything, decent cpu, gps, camera, a very nice qwerty keyboard and winmo 6.1. And stop complaining about winmo 6.1 it may not look as pretty compared to mobile osx, it works fine as long as you control how many apps you are running. i am not a palm fan and I am going to hit up the 3g iphone, but i see most of these comments as meritless. Go back to your bridges trolls.
gad get @ Jul 14th 2008 11:01AM
You know, I agree with most of what you said, but it doesn't help you to get your point across when you start your comment with, "okay wuts all these omplaints, dude treo users don't get palm for looks geez, its concentrated on users who needs it for work."
Just saying.
Ken @ Jul 14th 2008 9:37AM
Troll
ev01 @ Jul 14th 2008 9:37AM
This thing is almost the exact same size as the Treo 700w from 2005. Unbelievable. FAIL.
bjay @ Jul 14th 2008 9:45AM
Charles well said, win mobile is good for business uses, Iphone trolls should pls understand that some people out there actually do work more on their phones and the iphones dosent cut it in their world. The palm is good for what it advertised for, though they should ve gone the route of HTC, Samsung on their customize interface. Win Mo UI is plain FUGLY
OneLove @ Jul 14th 2008 9:55AM
That's the fuglyest $600 phone ever. HTC touch pro FTW!
Ivan @ Jul 14th 2008 10:13AM
I SOO TIRED OF ENGADGET POSTING ANYTHING BUT PALM NEWS! THERES LIKE 4 ON THE WHOLE PAGE..........FAIL!
Paul @ Jul 14th 2008 10:30AM
Yeah, I mean look at this page:

SCREAMING COMPLETE NONSENSE IN BROKEN ENGLISH...FAIL
YourMother @ Jul 14th 2008 10:24AM
What do you do when your contract's up, it's new phone time, you're sick of Sprint, you deplore Verizon's customer service, and you love the iPhone but need a keypad?
This 800w makes me sick, but I think I may buy it . . . and then cry and vomit and shower in intervals.
Huesca @ Jul 14th 2008 10:29AM
Why do you talk shit about this phone?.
"its from 1995, hahaha im so funny"
It has the same specs that the best phones out there. the only diff between this and touch pro is the proccessor and screen size. Plus, this one is cheaper and has Palms superb qwerty keyboard.
bob y @ Jul 14th 2008 11:02AM
Somebody pre-ordered this piece of junk...
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 14th 2008 11:18AM
This Palm Treo 800w couldn't carry a BlackBerry Bold's jockstrap. That's why RIM rules the smartphone market (although not for long). Palm rules, well, nothing. End of story. Next.....
paul @ Jul 14th 2008 10:36AM
Fugly
Sith Lord 24 @ Jul 14th 2008 11:27AM
really is this all that Palm can come up with now. they have had basically the same phone for the last 6 years!!!!!!!!!! NO type of inovation!!!
justaddunix @ Jul 14th 2008 12:14PM
I would say it might be worth the cost if palm would finally come out with their "so-called" upcoming linux based OS. I was really looking forward to getting a linux based treo,.. looks to me like it wont happen though. If this 800w is the best palm has so far, I'll probably get an iphone.
stuuu28 @ Jul 14th 2008 12:14PM
Like all other Palms despite the inane comments on this sites, it will be ideal for business and sell loads.
For Calender, Email , Contacts WinMo6 is great plus document veiwing and editing, thounds of apps.
Plus the form factor is proven.
A great little phone IMO now all we need is a Palm OS version
PS i use an i phone and not being able to edit docs is a complete pain, so much so i would swap it for one of these in a flash.
Jamie @ Jul 14th 2008 12:19PM
Allow me to sum up the review in advance by quoting David Byrne: "Same as it ever was."
tariqg @ Jul 14th 2008 12:54PM
Have you even seen 700wx and 800wx? 800wx is really neat, smaller/lighter in size compared to brick 700wx.
