Lenovo's ThinkPad SL400 gets reviewed
As the Centrino 2 train rolls on, we've found yet another standout that has already hit the test bench. The recently revealed SL400 is being aimed directly at mobile business professionals, but it's also potent enough to handle basic 3D gaming and the occasional Blu-ray flick on those intercontinental flights. According to reviewers over at Laptop, this 14.1-incher was pretty swank overall, though a few minor niggles kept it from snagging a coveted Editor's Choice award. First, a number of the ports are recessed, which may or may not grate your nerves, and while overall performance was satisfactory, the sluggish 5,400RPM hard drive was definitely frowned upon. Still, the great battery life, wireless performance and multimedia capabilities enabled it to claim 3.5 out of 5 stars, which means that you should probably give the full review a read before pulling the trigger on blind faith.

This does look pretty solid and rugged [not in the sense of rock] but in the sense of productivity and sleekness :-)
nO tHNAK YoU!
I wouldn't mind that background. Is there any links for it?

Although I'm not too sure this particular one will be there otw, go hunting for it on thinkpads forum.... forum.thinkpads.com or something similar...
Google is your best friend!!
5,400 RPM is not that sluggish, unless you need to do lots of video work. But just the same, couldn't you just upgrade this in a BTO, or no?
And also, recessed ports?? I'd have to see these in person before making final judgment, but that sounds totally stupid, like that recessed headphone jack in a recent doodad.
Nik, here's a link at least to IBM's blue version of that wallpaper (I've never actually seen the black one in play, and I *work* for IBM! lol)

Plastic hinges? Ulgh. I'll stick to the T-series.
...it's not plastic! ...it's the same design as the x300 and I believe that it's blackened magnesium. There's a close-up shot in the linked article.
The SL is nice, but the markup for GeForce mobile is too much.
will it run OSX ?
My x86 crystal ball says:
"Whatchu think sucka?"
Without sound or wifi? Probably.
Does this thing come with the traditional Think-Light as well? this is 1 feature I used on my t60p very often and people get so drooling over ...
I think the Thinklight has been taken out. I do not see its button on the keyboard anywhere.
Ultrabay also seems to be gone.
Any information about the SL300 yet?
Also, it's really thick. 1.3"-1.5". I'd rather go with the T series if it's going to be that thick.
Gee, I wonder if they could have made room for a few more stickers on this monstrosity. The stickers make it look oh so classy!
