Gekko is the Sidekick 2008 after all, launches July 30

Never before have we dealt with so much naming drama leading up to a new Sidekick's release. Gekko, Gecco, Aspen, Sidekick 2008, the list of candidates goes on, and we finally have a winner: Sidekick 2008 it is! The name comes courtesy of some new internal documentation for T-Mobile reps, which also reveals that the low-end piece will be available come July 30 (seemingly putting the kibosh on Best Buy's July 27 date) with interchangeable shells, a 2 megapixel cam, and a 2.6-inch WQVGA display that'll definitely be a nice bump up from the iD's specs.

Wow another sidekick that is lacking 3G yeah i totally lost interest in sidekicks. Maybe in the not to distant future we will see a 3G sidekick or something 3G from t-mobile that isn't pure garbage.

so not interested in this.

I left T-Mobile for AT&T...they're customer service policies screwed me over multiple times. But even if I were still with them, I wouldn't ever get another sidekick. Completely unimpressed with them. They look nice, but lack the reliable functionality of a Blackberry...or any other smartphone for that matter.

I WORK FOR AT&T AND MOST OF OUR YOUNG CUSTOMERS ARE GETTING THE BLACKBERRY MORE SO THAN OTHER PEOPLE. SO SAYING THAT THE BLACKBERRY IS FOR BUSINESS AND FOR OLDER PEOPLE IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE. A PHONE CAN BE FOR ANYONE NOT A CERTAIN GROUP. MY UNCLE IS IN HIS LATE 30'S AND USES HIS TMOBILE SIDEKICK LX FOR HIS WORK AND EVERYONE IN HIS BUSINESS ARE USING THE SIDEKICK AS WELL.

i just a sidekick 08 loveing it so far got a lot going for it
