I was considering it for a time, but the placement of the power key really does bother me. It's placed WITHIN the keyboard, directly above the backspace key.
Now, though I would assume they've planned for scenarios where this could cause problems, if not it may be quite a turn off (Pun!) to some.
The power key is placed to flow with the design of the laptop. To turn the system off with the power button you must hold the laptop for a few seconds. So to "accidentally" hit it and turn the system off should not happen.
There is also a setting in Windows when you press the power button to 'When I press the power button' with the options of: Do nothing, Standby, Shut Down, and Ask me what to do.
I agree. I don't want to get into a PC vs. Mac debate, but I depend on a Mac and therefore a Windows laptop is not an option for me. However, I do have to say that from a purely cosmetic perspective, HP have absolutely nailed this one. I'd be happy if Apple released something that looks as good as that, and that's high praise to HP. The design team responsible should take a bow. I sincerely hope that the rest of the user experience lives up to the expectations that thing will give when it comes out of the box.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
I like that solid slab look.
I admit, it looks great.

Honestly, it's living up to its name.
