Brando's USB LED Message Board keeps all eyes on you
Okay, so you understand the concept of a scrolling LED belt buckle, correct? Good. Brando has taken the novelty found in the aforementioned waist adornment and shoved it into yet another zany USB-powered gizmo. The USB LED Message Board can store up to eight phrases and supports five scrolling modes, sound effects and animated messages. Just make sure your boss' dirty little secret doesn't mysteriously end up on the new office ticker.

Think Geek sells it.

My problem is the length of USB cable needed to reach from my PC to the window in my door.
Other than that, I'd love to have a flashing "KEEP OUT!" sign at the office.

It stores 8 messages, that means that after putting the messages in with the USB cable you unplug it from the cable and take it anywhere. You can even wear it like a badge. The RS232 version has been around for a couple of years.

I would buy this if it could be hacked to display track title information from a media center, or alert me to new email from across the room, functioning as a clock when there's no activity. Displaying information would be way better than dumb phrases I might cook up for the office (though, hey, I'd take that option too).

Live the life of a boss playa 'till the day I die
Live the life of a thug ....
Cause we be getting high"

Aah, I see he's using an Eee PC 1000 with this thing.
I would buy this IF it imitates a Cylon and says "By Your Command"

I want something that'll scroll across my back windshield "HANG UP AND DRIVE" every time I see someone behind me on a friggin' cellphone.
tiuk @ Jul 20th 2008 4:19AM
Actually, that's pretty cool. If I saw one in a store for $30 I'd probably buy it.

Can I get two or three of them without all the extra plastic around them? I need two or four to be placed carefully in the tail section of my car. I'd like either side of the fuel filler cap to have vehicle information displayed in real-time such as actual engine RPM and HP / TQ.
This is because I've never actually seen it in a car. I understand it would give people a really good reason to tailgate, but tell me it wouldn't be great!

You can see the vehicle in queston somewhere at http://cars.fruzzetti.org or either of my gas-savers at http://www.fruzzetti.org/06prius and http://www.fruzzetti.org/01prius :P (If you take care of them you'll never have to replace the batteries -- the $5000 after 30k miles thing is a myth -- the cars manage the batteries to within strict temperature and under/overcharge limits 30%-70% so at 96000 miles my 01 was running like new plus there are multiple cells so in the event of a failure you replace that cell only BUT I DIGRESS; MY APOLOGIES).
Yeah I think that would be kinda cool. And we should have hotkeys available to spit out messages like "hang up and drive" "get off my a%%" and other choice words "this isn't my license plate" etc....
I love the combination of technology, old cars, and big engine displacement. mmmmmmm.... So how do I get one without that extra plastic framework? Just the LEDs and the cords?
