The Windows user interface sucks - it always has. I haven't had any problem with Vista vs XP, it is just as reliable, fast, and so on, but the user interface is terrible. They got a few things right, such as nice clear fonts, but 90% of the UI is still just as pathetic in relative terms as Windows 3.11.
Windows 7, despite Microsoft bringing in some guy from Adobe to help with the UI, will still suck. Microsoft have done little right since monopolising the market a long time ago.
Hmm... I dunno, people always tout XP as being reliable and fast, but I found drawing on XP to be really bad (and yeah, I had my graphics card drivers installed). I've also had numerous weird glitches with just about every version of Windows I've used, and I'd say XP and Vista level on that one.
Your comment may have sounded reasonable until you mentioned that a future product you know little about will suck. You don't even give Windows 7 a chance, despite additions to Microsoft that you acknowledge, so all anyone can conclude from your post is that you just hate Microsoft.
Oh, how interesting. Any examples of right UI for the OS? I can't figure out what *concpetually* different for Windows UI from others OS UIs.
And for me it's functional, and I love things that help get other things done. I like good looking, but UI must be functional in the first place. And Windows' UI does it for me. And hey, Vista does a *lot* of things better for this.
zomg0t, I am concluding Windows 7 will suck based on probability. This is entirely reasonable. What I do know is that: it is being made by Microsoft. This is all the information required.
Exactly: you hate Microsoft, and it sounds like it's because they have the majority of the market (not 100%, like the probability of Windows 7 sucking, but a lot). So you mention Microsoft getting a guy from Adobe, yet you are certain that he will be useless. If you want to sound reasonable, take ujn's advice and give an example of an OS with a better UI and provide the differences as well as an explanation for why those differences make that OS have a superior UI compared to Windows.
I don't think Vista is bad, per se, but did we really have to wait 5-years for it? As a Microsoft customer, that's what my problem with the OS is. Further, there really isn't a compelling reason to upgrade to Vista until support for XP expires, you end up wondering what the point of it all was. The only real reason why Vista license volumes are rising is because all new PCs come with it now. I seriously don't think many people are purposely buying Vista or a computer to run Vista, mostly because the operating system isn't interesting - applications are what is interesting to a computer user.
More interesting would be to contrast the rate of adoption for Vista against the rate of adoption for Office 2007 against previous versions. That would give an indication of the relative interest in the product.
BobTurbo? dude what do you like then? MAC? well ill have u know XP copied the MAC OS in 1999. Thats one thing done right? in terms of interface isnt it? if not how about Aero, flip3d? perhaps if you did not spend ur time bashing Microsoft on forums (as it will achieve nothing) and working you would have a good enough gfx and computer to actually c it.
btw. im using Vista and XP on two comps @ home. although XP right now is favoured by me. I suppose if i put Vista on the better computer i would be more then satisfied with it.
So you wanted them to hurry up with Vista so you can leave XP behind. And when they finally deliver your rushed product, you refuse to buy it. Why? Because they still support XP. Then when they cut support for XP, you will still complain.
I bet I can do anything faster than what you can do on my Windows comp.
Not one problem here with Vista, well perhaps Dell's s**t drivers for wifi on my laptop.
I like it a lot more than XP. I'm running four comps on Vista and one's left on XP. XP is great though.
Macs SUCK dirty ass there GUI? POINTLESS random jumping crap all over etc. I've used them at college and man it's the reason why I brought myself a laptop with Vista on it.

I still don't get peoples problems with Vista, I've been using it for more than a year now and I've never had a problem.

Yep people must just be making up problems because they have nothing better to do.

DOS for the win. 'Nuff said.

@Dave C
This is an interesting question. What's keeping you from installing Vista on your more capable machine?

No one wants customers like you.
I fully agree.
