Modder shoves emulator, ROMs into actual NES controller
This one has been around the block a time or two, but considering you have absolutely nothing else to do on a Sunday, you might as well dust off that DIY kit and get to work. What you're looking at above is a genuine (albeit modified) NES controller playing a bona fide classic on a laptop. Amazingly, all of the software required for such a marvelously good time is stuffed tight within the controller itself. Take a step back and digest that -- your very own NES emulator (with ROMs), shoved inside a Nintendo Entertainment System controller. Does it get any more awesome than that? Hit the read link to start building your own and let us know. Video of the action after the jump.

I wish this was for sale!! Nintendo if you read that....
I would like to have my own USB NES controller, one of these days.
FCE Ultra is still my favorite NES emulator, get to play my favorites NES games: RCR, SMB3, MM3
Who needs a controller with roms built into it. You can download a plugin for firefox for free and play EVERY single NES game right now!

This is just a USB stick with buncha roms, and USB NES controller in one. The laptop is still doing ALL the processing. There's nothing interesting going on here (unless you've lived in the dark ages, and haven't seen an emulator before). Or perhaps we're supposed to be amazing that there's a USB controller shaped in a form of a NES controller.... I don't get it.
Epic fail, couse it needs an MS OS, how bout puting a minimal LiveUSB linux distro on that controller?
oh wow... I had NO idea my mod would grab this much popularity. The blog and youtube video is mine. Ive made 4 of these suckers. Each a little different to the next. My first one I made was a few years ago. Great to see so many people appreciating the NES games. Hardcore nostalgia :D lol
